When I first got an invite to gmail, I figured you need one gmail account, and with it joined with google.com, plus blooger.com, etc. I figured that is what you got. And then I got to thinking, what is my husband kicked the bucket, and I remarried, I would have to start another gmail account with my new name. Not only that, what if I wanted to use a pen name. I am writing a novel, and my husband was Mennonite so with that last name, well people would assume I am writing from a Mennonite point of view instead of a Calvinist point of view, and I would possibly use a pen name. So there you have it, two reasons for a new gmail account.
So is more than one gmail account possible, and does that also mean a new google?

I like that idea. I like categorizing everything, makes it much easier and since you invite yourself, you can keep from getting all that spam.

Yes I have 9 gmail accounts and will be signing up for more because I use them for my GPT programs. Gmail is great for junk mail because it has unlimited storage. :)

I use Yahoo for my junk mail and besides once you get your email on a junk mail list, it is impossible to take it off. I just hope when I get that new gmail account that the agents and publishers do not give my email to someone selling v*gra and someone who thinks I am a man and that "it" is not long enough.

I need another email account, I am already with Gmail and I was about to sign up with Yahoo or Hotmail but I thought wouldn't it be much easier to have two gmail accounts rather than having to open up Hotmail and Yahoo, just flick between the two, so I will be looking at your responses too with interest, thanks.

Well as long as you did not use that account to sign up with Gmail, you can use amother Gmail account under a different name. However you will have to sign out of Gmail and then sign in again with the different name. Also if you have a blog, well you can only open it with the gmail account you had your blog with.

It might make it easier to transfer one of my other accounts to a gmail and cancel that one.

I have six gmail accounts currently. All you have to do is send an invite to yourself. Then, once that account is set up you can make an entry in the settings of your primary account to retrieve email from the new account as an alternate address. That will send an email to the new account for authentication. Log onto the new email address, accept the authentication and you are all set. Log back into your primary account and now you can receive, and send email from your primary account as wither address.
Works like a charm! And, is just what the doctor ordered for pen names and such.

So there is no restriction as to how many gmail accounts, right now I have three, one with my full name, one with my initials and my last name, and the other for myLot and forums. Kind of strange welcoming myself to gmail though.:)

Okay thanks for responding. Anyway I am gradually finding out how the invites work. So all I have to do is to find out a good pen name.

It sounds good. Mind you it would not look good if I sign my novel, A. Suspenseful or something like that.

glad there are other mylotters who are on the ball. As for your penname, the one you use here would do. makes you sound very mysterious!

I use my Yahoo mail as spam, because in order for it to be spam free, I will have to pay for it. I get more than 100 of spam email addresses. I have one gmail for forums, myLot included where I do not use my real name, one gmail address for friends and relatives, one for my non fiction and fiction writing, future agents, etc. and I plan to get one gmail for novels and stories I want under a pseudonym.

I figured it out. It is much easier than the first time. Then I had to search to find someone who had a whole bunch of free gmail accounts.

OH Yes, you can have more than one account at Gmail. It is so easy to sign up for a new email address from so many places online. I have 7 email accounts and use each one for a different purpose.

I find that having several email accounts better than one, I have my Yahoo account for my spam and also that is the one I joined using Paypal. I want to have a Gmail account as a pen name account when I publish my novel as soon as I find a good one that has not been used by anyone else.

Many other members already responded, so I will just say that I have about 20 different email accounts from different domains, and GMAIL are the best: dual POP3/Web Based, never down, good spam filter, recently increased storage space, short and respectable domain.

I really like Gmail, I do not use the Pop3, as I prefer to read email on the web. It makes it easier if I decide to move.
