He is a good cook, too. Most of my friends know that I am working two jobs. Somehow, yesterday, I ate no real lunch (lots of snacks, a glass of milk) and I left my lunch for the second job in the refrigerator at the first job. So, no available food. I called hubby and told him I was on my way home, and he said "How would you like some homemade soup?" He had made it at work, and they often have him take home the leftovers. It was scrumptious, with nice herb seasonings, turkey and vegetables. It was so satisfying, and made me feel really loved and cared for. Do you like homemade soup? What kind? Does your spouse cook special things and serve you when you are feeling really down?

Then we have something in common! My hubby is fantastic too! Not bad in the kitchen either!Makes a killer burrito! Love em. So last week he came home with lots of ingredients made a bunch, the house smelled wonderful, and stuck them in the freezer. When I dont want to cook pop in oven for 10 minutes and presto! Yummy! always doing things like that

It's quite wonderful your husband does this for you and you do acknowledge it. Well I don't have a spouse, but it'd be interesting cooking for one when they really need it.
Oh yea uh favorite soups? Onion is always great, as is mushroom. Tomato is a classic and I never get enough of chicken noodle. Ramen is a good soup(yes, my opinion, I consider it a soup). Miso is quite delicious too. Knefla, I do on occasion but its still a good treat.
Hope that didn't bore you Gerty!
Ah, good luck working the jobs, I wish you well. Take care you and your husband.

There is a lot you can do with Ramen, and that was one thing my first husband loved. He learned to eat it in Japan. I am not bored with people who will take part in my discussions. I do not know what Knefla is, so will you explain it for me, and anyone else who does not know it. Ramen must be the universal language of quick soups.

Knefla is a German type of soup. It usually consists of potatoes, chicken cubes, some vegetables.
And since you asked for it and the info Gerty, I'll give a bonus...
Cause we are friends and you are a sweetie.
********************
Knefla Soup
6 potatoes, peeled and chopped
4 cubes chicken bouillon
2 onions, chopped but not diced
2 carrots, sliced
2 celery stalks, sliced
2 tablespoons dried parsley
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/3 cup butter
5-6 cups water
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup of milk
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk
Bring a large stock pot with water to a boil. Next, combine the potatoes, chicken cubes, onions, carrots, celery, parsley, salt, pepper and butter. Basically the first half of the ingredients. Bring the soup to a simmer. Continue to simmer until the vegetables become soft and tender.
Now, in another bowl mix flour, salt, eggs, and milk. Mix this up until dough is uniform. Cut or tear mixture into small pieces.
Once vegetables are tender in the soup add in dough/knefla pieces. Simmer your soup for about 30 minutes.
Add the evaporated milk and stir till its uniform and in the soup completely.
NOTE: You can use regular milk instead, and you want to add around 3 cups of it.

If I think of anything else, I'll probably post it here!
And yes my friend, Ramen is quite a treat. Its almost universal in some circles.

I have soup in the freezer that hubby has made, and in the refrigerator. It looks like we have some soupy weather brewing. Cold, gray and wet. Tonight we will have Swedish meatballs over nuked potatoes. I will have to come up with a side dish of veggies or fruits, or both. Just to be balanced and healthy.

Soup is so comforting. I like to put all the leftovers together that way too. I do not like wastefulness, that is for sure.

I like homemade soup. Actually I like various kinds of soups. I live in Guangzhou, China and soup is very important part for our meal. My husband doesn't care about the soup, he prefers to eat the dishes much more. I am glad to hear that you have such a nice husband. My husband cut vegetables very well, and sometimes I will ask for his help. If I am very busy and then he will cook for us. I think good marriage depends on two responsible couple:)

i would say that you did eat a real meal that day- grazing is one of the best ways to keep your metabolism pumping. And you had a glass of milk as well providing protein and calcium. Homemade (with love) soup would have been a wonderful way to end the day. Did you feel you had more energy the next day?

I think the soup was good for both my body and my soul. I did feel really good about it the next day as well.

My wife does that sort of thing for me. She would probably do it a lot more often, if she wasn't so darn busy all the time. I really enjoy a good homemade soup. Who cares if it doesn't come out the same every time? I don't care what kind it is, as long as there are not any noodles in it.

Today I made a crockpot full of chicken, rice and vegetable soup and I am going to share it with one of my neighbors who is a single mother and works two jobs. She had mentioned how much she and her daughters liked homemade soups but she never had the time.

You will really lift her spirits, and that is a terrific friend. The chicken, rice and veggies sound good. I like fall because we can have such warm hearty foods.

My husband is not good at making soup, but he is good at telling me what to make. I love chicken soup with crushed tomatoes, lots of corn and vegetables and very spicy. He likes homemade chicken noodle soup, but I hate cooking the chicken and taking it off the bone, then having the chicken separate. I like the chicken cut up, used some for pies, and but a little in the soup along with the noodles, not separate as he likes it. My husband has not cooked anything special, although he did make an omelet or scrambled eggs, but the kitchen is mainly my domain.

Wow that man is a keeper!!! My favorite soup is hamburger soup. I love it. I do like homemade soup of any kind but hamburger is my favorite. My husband knows how to eat and that's about all he does. He often brags about how he used to cook for his kids when they were little and how even his ex wife loved his stews and soups. He has also many times said how his ex wife did nothing. I think a lot of wehat goes on here is my own fault. I think I just do too much, plain and simple. Take Care my friend.

Well you are very lucky for having one. Well there are some guys who is sensitive for the needs of their wives and you are so lucky that you belong with them. My partner is a good cook and he is willing to do things for me when I am not able to do things. But what your husband did is really sweet... :)

When I was working a brutal job, he actually used to get up in the middle of the night (when I got home from work) and make me buttery grilled cheese sandwiches and poached eggs with a glass of milk and bring this to me to eat in bed. Sometimes this was after he had already put in 12 hours at his own grueling job.
The soup story is heart warming and for you it must have been tummy warming too! I love homemade soup, but I have to make two different kinds because he and I have opposite tastes in soup. He likes the red clam chowder, and I like white. He likes lentils and I prefer peas. He likes spicy and I like sweet. It goes on and on. The one we agree on that we both like best is oxtail soup, though, and we make it together, although our Farberware multicooker does most of the work. We pressure cook it 90 minutes on high with bay leaves and cloves and black pepper and then spray Bragg's Amino Acid Seasoning over it instead of salt. Mmmmmmm.

Mom always made oxtail soup. That was what I craved when I got out of the hospital after having my first child. Grilled cheese sounds yummy too. It is fall and it is time for comfort food.

You really are very lucky to have a loving husband. I hope that you too are equally loving towards him. I should tell that my husband is also a great cook and he loves cooking. Whenever I am tired then he takes up the job. I must say that having such loving husbands are really a thing to treasure. :) Take care.
