I need a creative ways to store CDs!

I have 500+ cds in my collection and most of them are in CD stackers but I still have a big bag left to put away. There's probably about 100 in the bag. Also, we have a house inspection next friday and I need to get the place looking tidy so need to ditch the bag. I'm trying to think of a creative and CHEAP way to store them as I don't want to go spend $50+ on another CD shelf. I don't have much room left either. Any ideas? I'm trying to think outside the square but with no luck- and there's nothing on the internet about it either! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We don't have quite that many CDs but we have sure had the same problem of having to try to figure out how to stash all of them quickly. But the last time this came up, when I took a load of trash out to the dumpster, someone had just tossed the cutest CD rack. We had shopped and shopped and just never seen anything we liked, and then BOOM out of nowhere just when we needed it, someone had thrown a perfect rack away. I would buy one somewhere but we still have never seen anything like it for sale anywhere. So we dumpster dove, lol. Yes, and we still have it and use it and it is still perfect, but now I sure could use another one just like it for our summer home. Outside of "magic" though, and that certainly seemed like magic to us, I cannot think of a good solution for you here, but hopefully someone else will bail us both out.

I use shoe boxes if I want to keep the jewel cases that they come in. I dont keep the jewel cases so my CDs are in notebooks. I just took some of my husbands computer CD sleeves that he got at Staples and put them in a 3 ring binder and put my CDs in them. YOu could get under the bed storage boxes to put them in. Then you could just slip the boxes under your bed. That would be using some space that lots of people forget they have.

I'm probably too late so I apologize for that. I'm really backed up on my mylotting. BUT I was going to suggest CD cases - the ones you put like 8 one a page (4 on the front & 4 on the back). We store our DVD's like that because we've got over 1000. The books can get expensive but you can also get cheaper ones. Other than that I would suggest some kind of storage tub. One that could fit in your closet or under your bed. Good luck!

I'm probably way too late here hun, but we use the stacker boxes for cds and dvds. We have two stackes of four boxes tucked into a corner, and I put a cloth over the boxes and stood one of my big dragon figures on top.

If you have it, get an empty CD-R/DVD-R pack. Pack the CDs but separate with slips of paper, wax paper or thick plastic wrap on the bottom. You can use a shoebox too, but remember to separate for protection and to access them easier. Another thing you can do is grab a sheet of computer/printer paper and fold it into a suitable CD sleeve. Label or design them the way you want! If you have old VCR tape sleeves you can use that to store them, and then you can label them. Cut them in half and then use paper/wax paper to separate the CDs Cut an old toilet roll in half and pinch together until a suitable post is formed, tape it together. Then store your CDs on that. Separate them to protect the bottoms.

Cover a shoe box or two to go with your room... you don't need the lid... at least they'll be neat and lined up! A big square basket, a nice-looking plastic tote... even a baking pan from the kitchen could work. My slickest trick for when I give parties is to put a tablecloth over the coffee table... I can tuck a lot of stuff, like my magazines and current knitting project, under there, and be able to get right back to it when the party's over.
