I'm planning a trip to Greece but I'm not sure what the nicest area is. If anyone out there has ever vacationed in Greece please tell me about where you stayed and how you like it.

Coming from Greece its easy to reply. You must visit the Acropolis, the temple of Zeus at Sounio (both at Athens). Then you must pay a visit to Meteora, about 300kms away from Athens, and a view astonishing. Then, visit Pella/Vergina, homecity of Alexander the Great, and dont forget to check at a couple or more of our islands. Rhodes, Corfu and Mykonos for the party-style people are good choices :)

"Nicest" area??? ...hmmm... sounds like a question from someone that likes package vacations rather than traveling ...
Greece has a lot of "nice" places, and you can even book a stale package deal to many of them. If you are at least a little adventurous you can visit many many more places that are FANTASTIC instead of just "nice". Check out my response to another discussion about general Greece, I have spent several months in different parts of Greece.
Basically for a first timer you have to spend a couple days exploring Athens and then pick an island and lastly if time allows go deeper into the mainland.
As mentioned by others - the party islands are Ios, Mykonos & Santorini (Thira). Personally I like Thira and Naxos in the Cyclades and Kerkyra (Corfu)in the Ionian Islands. I often find pensions for 50-70E's a week in off-season on the islands. I get a small hotel in Plaka while in Athens. The Plaka is at the base of the acropolis and a fun area full of cafes and shops.

I've never been to Greece, but I've always wanted to visit the Coloseum and Athens. Don't they have some sort of ancient cities that you can visit and see how they looked? I wouldn't mind going to an ancient city or village because I've seen the really awesome pictures of these places in books.

The Coloseum is in Italy? Oops lol. In my school, I graduated even though I didn't learn much. I think everyone graduated because they passed the TAAS test, which we studied for all year. All the other stuff weren't important to the teachers. That is why I really enjoy learning new things and study all that I can.
