It's 1 AM -
Zoe just fussed at somebody and I wake up turn on lamp beside bed, look down in basket on floor beside bed to check on kittens - basket is EMPTY - no kittens in basket - and some adult cat has thrown up on the towel in the bottom of the basket! JOY!
I'm terrified to get out of bed and step on a kitten at this point - have to wait til one gets close enough to grab - put him in the basket - find another one - put him in the basket - 1st one has gotten out again - put him back in the basket - there's #3 - put him in the basket - spot the second kitten getting out - put him back in the basket.
At this point, I'm feeling like I've got 10 kittens to deal with rather than just the three boys (and it IS all the boys at this point - no sign of the little female) Finally hear Zoe pissing off the little female - they're down at the foot of the bed - safe for the blind chick to get out of bed as I now know where all all the kittens are - get into my desk chair - grab runaway female who is STILL fussing at Zoe - all in basket, Yeah!
Put basket on bed - Get bottle start feeding first kitten to hand - bleary eyes on basket to try to prevent further escapes and I realize I haven't grabbed my glasses so can't see worth a damn. Skippy goes over the wall - headed toward the headboard - Zoe's giving him a bath can hear him fussing at her - okay feed next kitten - FINALLY all kittens fed - Skippy's over in the far corner of the bed - use reacher to grab him bring him back to basket - other three now have full tummies and going to sleep - put Skippy back in basket - put towel back over basket to keep babies warm - keep an ear on things while I check e-mail - finally all kittens quiet - no more bumps rising under towel - put basket with now sleeping kittens back on floor beside bed. WHEW!
And now I can go back to bed - til the next round.
Tomorrow nite they sleep in Elic's room or in a cat carrier.

LOL that is really cute though, even though they are a lot of work it is so rewarding. A friend of mine has just rescued a mum and two kittens and she is up half the night, every night, at the moment

Having taken care of little kittens myself, including the bottle feeding oh, boy do I know how exhausting it can be. Uh, your roomie seems to be wanting to get her revenge though and I guess tonight is your turn to have fun...NOT

It sounds like you are having fun! I didn't get much sleep either. All the dogs in the neighborhood were barking and at 3:30 am I decided to just get up for the day. I've started working on laundry, gone through a stack of mail, got some bills ready to pay, made coffee and now checking email. I guess it will be time to get ready for work in a short while. My how time flies...

You probably posted this before, but I've not been on My Lot for several weeks (holidays, and other things to do) but what happened to the kittens mother?

Thanks :-) I think that you deserve a medal (or at least a good holiday) after this.

Mom is fine, she's a feral at the apartment complex my client lives at. The yard crew found the kittens and rather than have them taken to the pound I agreed to take them. They are now 5 weeks old - I'll have had them 4 weeks tomorrow (Monday Nov 12th.) I've seen mom several times, but I haven't been able to catch her yet.

Just think of the lovely feelings these little fur babies give you. You are so needed and so loved. These little mites wouldn't survive without you. Other people can just sleep through the night and miss the joy of being MOM to these lil guys. I think you folk are the lucky ones....lol.

Kittens are so much work. I am glad I do not have any. I do not know how you guys do it. I have my two and I love them but do not want anymore.
I admire you for all your care and support you do for all the cats you guys rescue.
Good luck and hopefully you can get some sleep.
