What do you know about Planet X/ Nibiru?

It was called “the crossing planet” by Sumerians. Many scholars named it as 12 th planet. Is planet Nibiru going to cross the solar system again in 2012? http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6047719874958484374&q=planet+x&total=1953&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0

I guess anything is possible. But I belive that it will have no effect on the earths tides unless it comes within the moon's orbit. The sun is the only planet that contains over 99.9% of the mass in the solar system, so there is no planet or anything in space that I know of that can make any sort of sizeable effect. So unless it comes within the moon's orbit it would not effect anything here on earth.

A brown dwarf planet entering the inner solar system would be devastating if came within 100,000,000 miles of Earth, it doesn't have to enter into orbit, we would be absorbed into it if it came that close. The sun is 93,000,000 miles away and drastically effects our tides. If any part of this is true (and I think it highly probably) then we are in for some DEEP dodo in the next few years. There have already been drastic changes in the number and intensity of earthquakes world wide with no logical public explanation, this has been glossed over in public media. I honestly don't know if Nibiru is real or not but I do realize something is up and the powers that be do NOT want it known publicly. This could well be the most important conversation on mylot and again, it's relagated to the backburner. It really makes me wonder if anyone should survive.

Yep I know about that one. I did not know it would cross in 2012. Interesting notion. Maybe some people claiming 012 as the end have a little more to work with. From a scientific point of view, I do want to study this further especially if there are potential dire consequences for the Sol System. A similar claim was made for a distant asteroid that could crash into Earth around '18-'22 or so. Its been awhile so I'll have to recheck it.

Yeah it does every 2400 years or something like that. It screws up all the planets it passes (gravitational pull, causing horrible weather and atompshere changes)it stated somewhere in nasa one of the planets they saw was affected horribly because of nibiru. Now its heading our way a closer than ever. They think thats why are weather is screwin up fast. We only had 2 weeks of HOT weather here and thats odd for indiana, i lived here all my life and usually amonth of hot weather or more. The state said the almanac states we will have record lows this winter way below 0. Plus all these hurricanes at once. To me it seems weather is changin fast. You'll have to look it up for more in depth info.

I dunno about this much about this topic about meteors and heavenly bodies.. Its worth it to believe but not that too much (In a sense that, it always comes into our minds that 2012 or something is the end.) I read some topics in other forums a "hoax" about this... Which simply states that in "Dec 2012" (i dunno the exact date but there is stated) would be the so called "Judgment Day".. And all human will be evaluated by the Extra-terrestrials from Nibiru and Only 10% of the population of each country will be remain. And it would be the new beginning of the Earth.. But i don't believe that much..

I also don't know about getting close... As far as I know, there will be a big planet crossing our planet earth's orbit.. (It is also stated in the hoax... and it is named as Planet Nibiru in the hoax.). That would scary.. We might be killed by that if a other planet collide in ours.

"but it is proven about big planet coming close to Earth" No such thing has been proven and no credible scientist or astronomer believes this to be the case.

I must admit that I don't know anything about the subject, but it seems very interesting! I had read something about the fact that solar system could have some more objects to be still classified and even recognized, but the article was very incomplete and superficial. thanks and good bye

I knew nothing about it at all and after seeing the video, I still know very little about it except for its name and how it could annihilate my behind, pardon my French. I know a little bit about the Dark Star from the song by Crosby, Stills and Nash. The earth has been visited by numerous cataclysms and this seems to be the mother of them all. If it caused the sinking of Atllantis, it could really be a bad one. I will be looking forward to its coming. I hope there are more knowledgeable material that comes to the fore.

Holy crap! Just watched the video and when I get the chance want to watch the first two of the series. I so vividly remember awhile ago, the news mentioned about another "planet" in our system but that was it...not all this...Okay, like so what do we do, how do we folks prepare ourselves for this "events" since as it suggests so many lives will perish?

The existence of Nibiru is largely based on Sumerian writings on tablets 5,000 years old. There is no modern reference that would definitely identify a celestial body out there as being Nibiru. Although it is a fact that dwarf planets and other asteroids "mingle" with the larger planets like Earth. We will always be in danger from near-Earth asteroids passing by, and if geological history is to be taken seriously, yes, the Earth does periodically suffer from celestial impacts that cause global extinctions. The meteorite that crashed in South America recently (look for the news in my Macrocosm Magbook blog), which left a big hole that gave off noxious fumes, is just one example of how vulnerable our planet is to such space rocks. As for the year 2012, I feel that there will be a lot of changes that will happen to the Earth. For one thing, yes, the poles are just about ripe for another shift, but let's hope that it'll be uneventful. It's feared that if the Earth's magnetic field shuts down during the shift, the Earth will be left open to dangerous radiation from space which can literally fry the atmosphere. Not to mention the fact that the Earth is heading toward an energized cloud of particles in space which can contribute much to the damage on our planet (I read this science news from somewhere a while back). Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that the Sun is ripe for another solar maximum. This occurs every 11 or 12 years and we're already experiencing it. On the other hand, the polar shift, solar maximum, and cosmic cloud passage may occur without the magnetosphere being affected or breached. That would be the better option for everyone. But we really shouldn't worry ourselves with these things. A lot of it may just be like the hype we experienced when the Y2K bug was about to hit during the turn of the century.

I knew nothing of Nibiru before I saw this post., thank you. I do know that the gravitational formula shows there is still something quite massive out there that's been unseen. The discovery of Pluto was an accident, it happened to be in the right place at the right time but isn't anywhere near massive enough to cause the gravitational effects observed. It's an interesting video and certainly entertaining, I'm not sure I believe it. But I wouldn't put it past the powers that be to hide such an impending catastrophe from the public either. I have heard the theory that our sun has a companion star that's too dark to be observed and that idea does tie in with this theory.

I'm not worried about it. I plan to live to be well past 100, which means I have several decades left. And beyond that, well...I guess it depends on whatever adventure awaits after I cross over to the other side.

And some more words. Puctures which are presented as Nibiru, NASA shows as 140 years ago supernova. And they look much like that. Then, when approaching us the dark star itself must be more remarkable object because it's heavier and hotter. Nibiru is as they say comparable to Jupiter by it's mass and the star can be 70-80 times heavier. And then temperature can vary between 750-2200 K, I doubt if smaller Nibiru can be hotter. Where does it take energy then? P.S. And by the way, have you ever heard about Nemesida (requital) - a hypothetical star, satellite of the Sun?...

In 1983, two astronomers named Neugebauer and Houck made headlines with their announcement that they had discovered a `Jupiter-sized planet’, cruising the galaxy at a distance of two billion kilometers from the Sun. Also, NASA discovered big planet in solar system in 2005. http://space.about.com/od/astronomynews/a/planetx.htm Nothing really proved Nibiru or Planet X existance.

"Also, NASA discovered big planet in solar system in 2005. " Yes, this would be "Eris", a planetoid a little bigger than Pluto....a few years later, "Sedna" was discovered...slightly smaller than Pluto.

Thank you for this discussion, Pola. I've seen som info about X\Nibiru circulating the internet but I gave some time to search and know more just after reading you topic. Well, for me it seems to be from range of thing I believe as "altenative reality" I would call it. It includes things which are not generally proved and trusted but some people believe they exist. It's like UFO, former civilizations on the Earth, ancient visits of alients to our planet, parallel world and so on. I'm not going to say that all "altenative reality" is fake but one has to be logical and reasonable considering can a thing be true or not. By the way, sometimes it seems to me there can be something real behind "alternative reality facts". I could not find anything about Nibiru in NASA oficial site, if anyone did - could you provide a link? I found a video with some critisism on that subject: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29MmqYUW9LM http://ru.youtube.com/watch?v=bRvDfpBEBpw&NR=1 and there are some more. Questions I have to the video (sorry if I missed existing answers): - is there a NASA telescope at South Pole. Nasa says nothing about it. - is Nibiru a "domestic" planet (member of our solar system) or does it belong to another star system? - if "dark star's" perihelion is 60-70 AU and Nibiru orbit is 60 AU (Pluto at the most remote point has 49 AU) away from the dark star does it mean that Nibiru can come to the very center of the solar system? - then, following previous question, and considering Nibiru the outermost planet of it's star's system, does it mean that other planet orbits from both systems can cross too? I would say in this case it can be two systems collapse. Really as you can see with these distanses orbits of some planets will overlap, depending on how both systems ecliptics related to each other. - brown dwarfs upper mass limits are about 70-80 Jupiter masses so, can the dark star itself play more significant role by itself, than Nibiru? In any case with these distanses gravity of all objects will play a notable role. Remember, how the Neptun has been discovered? - well, those who are strong in sky mechanics, how would you discribe a process of two stellar systems collapse? - if Nibiru comes as close to the sun as Jupiters orbit (what meens that it's much closer to the Sun then to the dark star) and it's repiting it time, why it hasn't been ever catched by Sun which is bigger and has stronger gravity then the dark star? well, enough for this time I think. Googling on brown dwarfs gives some more or less scientific info, and "dark star" request returns only movee, sci-fi and related topics. Here is atricle about brown dwarfs, pre-stellar objects in wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_dwarf#Classification_of_brown_dwarfs P.S. Why do people like apocalyptic scenarios so much?...

"is there a NASA telescope at South Pole. Nasa says nothing about it. " there is one there but it is a)not run by NASA B) only an xray telescope (not optical) and c) isn't in operation any more as of a few years ago. This telescope would not be required to see this "NIBIRU" though, if it were out there (and it isn't) you could see it from anywhere on earth. "if "dark star's" perihelion is 60-70 AU and Nibiru orbit is 60 AU (Pluto at the most remote point has 49 AU) away from the dark star does it mean that Nibiru can come to the very center of the solar system?" Purportedly this is the story. However the problem with is that any planet that size in that orbit, traveling at that speed would have achieved "escape velocity" and be ejected from the solar system on it's first pass through. "brown dwarfs upper mass limits are about 70-80 Jupiter masses so, can the dark star itself play more significant role by itself, than Nibiru? In any case with these distanses gravity of all objects will play a notable role. Remember, how the Neptun has been discovered?" Yes, indeed it would be noticeable...very much so. Also not mentioned by many is that a "brown dwarf" is not really...well...brown. It is still very hot and very bright, you couldn't miss it. "P.S. Why do people like apocalyptic scenarios so much?... " Because the real wonders of astronomy just don't seem to be wondrous enough for some people I guess. And it seems doomsday is always just a few years around the corner....lol.

I know this is an old discussion, but i am on a mission to stamp out bad science, especially bad astronomy (and I am trying to make it to pay out minimum this month, lol). Nibiru does not....repeat does not exist. No such planet that size can maintain such a wild orbit at that speed. Not one single astronomer has announced spotting this and not a single purported of this theory has yet told me where someone can point a telescope in the sky and see it.

Sorry, but "Planet X" doesn't exist. Scientists used to think that there was another planet beyond Pluto (which now isn't a planet either), but they have realized that there isn't based on more accurate measurements of Pluto and Neptune. Eris is slightly larger than Pluto and farther away, but still not very massive. There are plenty of objects of decent size (although mostly smaller than Pluto, which is pretty small) that are far away in our Solar System, but NOT planet X. There is NOTHING of substantial mass outside of the 8 well known planets.
