I just saw the commercial for the new Steven King movie The Mist. That really does look like a great movie. I cant wait to see it. I'm assuming it is based on one of his books. Has anyone read the book? If so was it a good book? And will you be going to see the movie as well?

It seems to me that it was already made into a movie..but called the Fog...does it seem familiar to anyone else?

The Fog was based on another book, by another author. I can't remember his name offhand.
The Mist is based on a novella of the same name, by Stephen King, and can be found in a horror anthology called "Dark Forces", which I believe was edited by Kirby McAuley.
The stories are quite different.

I haven't seen the movie or read the book. I do know he is an excellent author who has written some fabulous books. I would like to see the movie but probably won't read the book. Not much of a reader here. Our daughter does the reading and she can tell me all about it. That's how I read...lol

I haven't seen it, but really i would love to. There have been some good movies based on his books, even though others really sucked. Let's hope this one is one of the good ones.

The book, more like a long short story, or mini novel, whichever, is my favourite Stephen King story. It has great stmosphere to it, and almost the ultimate horror/nightmare story.
It sounds implausible, but what if it DID happen? That's the horror the characters try to come to terms with.
I have serious doubts though that it will be half as effective on screen. Horror like that is best left to the mind. Why else has it taken so long to put on to screen, when King's works normally are produced much sooner?
All I can say is, make sure you read the book first, it's one you will not put down.
Mark.
