Going back to school.

I have decided to go back to college. Several reasons have compelled me to do so. My husband is having a very difficult time in the Army right now. He broke his hip last year and has been having trouble running now. He also has a bad ankle from an injury several years ago. So, he has failed two physical training tests so far and he is unable to re-enlist or go to the board for promotion until he can pass the tests at 80% according to the 82nd Airborne regulations, which of course are much more stringent than the United States Army regulations. He is very depressed and angry with himself right now because he couldn't pass it. I just care that he did his best and that is all that matters to me. My husband was very down last night and feeling sorry for himself (that's another discussion within itself!). Anyhow, I realized that we need a PLAN B! So, we were both discussing getting degrees so we can at least have a fall back plan if things fall through with his career in the Army. My good friend turned me on to an online university that she attends and the classes are relatively inexpensive considering the other online colleges. I am looking into a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. It has always interested me in how the mind works and why people think the way they do. So, I think I am going to go for it! Well, wish me luck!

Thanks alot! I believe that learning something new is great. I wish I could be of more help to him right now but he is in Iraq right now and all I can do is give him words of support. So, I do the best I can with that. We have talked today and he is feeling much better and has found his motivation again. So, he said he is just dusting himself off and keep going. So, I know he will do just fine. I just worry about him too much I suppose! Thanks Silvana!

I agree Silvana. It is very hard for those soldiers over there right now, they are away from family, friends and not home during the holidays which is depressing as well for both family and soldiers. You know what I am speaking of and I am glad to have your support!

Good luck on going back to school and getting a degree. If you go into s field that you love, it is much better than having to go to work at a store or a restaurant while your husband is on disability. I was wondering whether the army will pay for your course and for your husband's retraining? It sounds like it might be that he would be good at a desk job.

He is doing better he says. He is going to try again in the next couple of weeks and hopefully we won't have to worry so much. The army won't pay for me, but the army will pay for my husbands education, so that is a plus for him. It will save us money in the long run.

I think that's a great idea. Learning should never stop.
Personally I am also fascinated with psychology. It helps you understand yourself and other people better.

Time is like as water flowing in a ravine which dose not turn back. Time of your school age has gone. It dose not come back. So you should not waste it to think about your past. Build your future on your present. Troubles of the present are challenges for you to build your future on them. You can change your luck with struggle. seek a part time job and also start your studies. Be a brave women. As the fortune favors barave. You are interested in psychology so you should treat your depressed husband with kindness and according to the subject you like. God may bless your home. World is like an examination for all. wish you best of luck.

Age is no barrier to learn and even for working., and therefore what you have decided is correct, and my wishes for your to succeed in your effort.
And BTW, dont loose the hope, as your husband will pass the fitness test soon and will get the promotion.
Take care :)

Thanks! He is feeling much better emotionally today. It was just a big blow to his pride that his body isn't what it used to be and he can't do what he is accustomed to doing because of his injury. I worry about him and I keep on him about taking care of himself better. Thanks!
