I found this book to be profound and eye-opening. It's not the be all, and end all of spiritual realizations, but Eckhart Tolle has a gift for bringing sweetness and humor into the practice of being more in the only actual moment there really is - this one now. I've gone on to listen to a couple of his audio CDs, read Stillness Speaks and New Earth. I also picked up the Findhorn Retreat DVD, good stuff! How have the principles of the Power of Now influenced your life and thinking?

Not one bit. I did go through a period of reading so called spiritual books such as the Power of Positive Thinking and stuff whereby by my own thoughts, I am be able to change my circumstances. This books seems like living for the moment and that not only the past but the future does not matter, so it is a deep seating profound version of living for the moment. If taken too far, one will be unable to prepare for the future, and so one will be unaware of that if one sits and meditates too long, he will become stagnant. So instead of just sitting there, and thinking you the person behind your thoughts, then go ahead and do something, get moving.

I think that if you read the book, or even a couple of pages, you would see that your impression is the exact opposite of the books message. It is a book about taking action, about being change, about living a more dynamically charged life by recognizing the blatant fact that the only place you actually have to work is now. Thinking only about the future is what stagnates a person. Making endless plans is not taking action, and those actions can only ever occur now. This book is about standing up and living an actual life, rather than remaining seated dreaming about the future and charting your imagination out.

That is nice to know, but do you need a book to tell you to get moving and prepare for the future?

I have read the book.but I am not quite sure about it.I know from it that we should live at the moment. don't think of the past and don't worry about the future. But we should learn from our past so that we can become more perfect. We should prepare for our tommorrow so that we plan our life well. We live at the moment so that we can share the peace of now.
