I generally don't vist my profile page here alot except to work on it or to do a refresher course on how to change things or add things to it when someone asks.
Anyway I went to my profile page earlier to do one of those refresher courses and discovered people were leaving their banners and referral links in my comment box. I don't know about the rest of you but I consider this spamming.
If I have added you as a friend, responded to your discussions, or you have responded to mine, I have already looked at your profile, blogs, or website. And I am either already a member of the sites you are promoting, am still thinking about it, or I am not interested. So please heed this as a warning I will delete your message if you are using my profile page to advertise.
Is anyone else annoyed by this or have I just become extremely crabby here the last couple of days?

Ohhhhh I sooo agree! To add someone as a friend to use them to promot their sites isn't the right way to go about their promoting. That would upset me too if it were done to me but so far it hasn't and it better not.

I see it also and I agree with you. I have just been ignoring it. Maybe it should be reported?

PMS at work sweety?
LOL just joking! I do know how annoying this could be and it would not be the forst time I had turned off the notify for these so called friends as well as deleting their comments! I suppose that is the beauty of my comments page not working I am no longer bombarded with these! Same with the people who send them by PM - I warn them I really am not interested so please not to do it again and if they keep it up I do delete them - maybe I am crabby too? lol Hugs sweety! xxxx

What's wrong with your comments page, mummymo? I've tried to leave something a couple of times, and was wondering why it didn't work.

No, you're not being crabby. LOL. So far no one on my friends list has put a comment on my page that also has a link to promote their "thing" and have their referral link, but some have PM'd me with links to some money making site, like Yuwie or there is some NEW thing. Forget the name UVME?? then there's another, that starts with an "A" I tend to just ignore it, but it does tick me off though

I'm very lucky and glad that I don't have friends such as those, who's bolder enough and have the knack of spamming your profile comments with their money-making schemes.
But I do receive some messages asking me to join their scheme/scams, which I don't really pay attention that much as it only irks me!LoL
Just delete their message or maybe it'd be good if you also put a comment on their profiles and voice out your what you feel about their GENEROSITY(?)! =) I would certainly enjoy doing that, but there's no one to bash on to!LoL

Hi Raijin
You are as onry as I am lol.
I belong to some money making programs but I figure since I have my website in my profile. If they have questions they will ask. And just because I belong to those sites does not mean I am going to join everyone of them that comes along.

Hi mfpsassy,
I too find this very annoying, and have deleted them in the past. They ruin it for those, who want to leave a nice greeting, or cheer someone up. The comments section is a great feature, if used correctly.

I started out on myLot to earn money, as it was a part of an online business venture, I'd joined. Now however, the money is just a 'nice bonus,' as I love talking to all of the wonderful people I've met here.:)

I don't seem to have the knack for earning much here, that some people have. I just like to visit etc., too, I guess.:) I don't start as many discussions as some, but do enjoy doing so, when I can think of a topic. By the way, I think you're good at starting them.

I can't agree with you more. This is a form of spamming and can be annoying to people. It is not as bad as email spamming though, because with email, it can keep coming non-stop, whereas in myLot, this is usually a one-time occurrence from the other member. For me, I just ignore such adverts and links if I am not interested. There are many avenues to promote one's links and sites, so I feel people should refrain from planting them in people's profiles here at myLot without permission.

Hi Lexus
I have a way of dealing with my junk emails. I tell them I will consider their offer and then give them a link to a traffic exchange site I belong to. I tend not to get emails from them anymore.
As for here I agree ask permissin first, but I am probably still going to tell them no

Hi Mikeswifey
I just deleted the comments and decided to start this discussion. As a way to let everyone know not to do that and to also let people vent about it. Generally if I get to many of those spam messages I delete the person as a friend. Most seem to get the hint when I don't respond back to them

Yup I agree! I think you know me from other sites. I use the same Batman icon on Yuwie etc. Yes of course it is spamming. People just do it so that they can get referrals. And banners are usually only used for your own website. But you may do as you wish. Anyways see you around!
