Vista is one of the most buggy operating system for which Microsoft had spend millions. It requires at least 2 GB of RAM and 256 MB Graphics Card with a high end processor. Which means it requires a high end system to run it at least decently even though it wont be that smooth. Still there are driver support issues in Vista. The better thing would be to continue using XP with Service pack 2.

I personally will give Vista a pass. I cannot afford the upgrade in hardware required to run Vista. I am not a gamer so I am not really one of it's targeted audience.

Vista has had many complaints about usability and compatability from users. You are not alone. XP is the most compatable operating system that is also afordable. (The most afordable, as in free OS is Linux, but it does have compatability issues for hardware devices.)

For my personal use, I run a double operating system. Windows XP and Ubuntu Dapper Drake.

Windows XP is compatable for all my hardware (scanner and all video-audio devices) and older software that I keep for personal reasons and that it works well.

Linux is safe as heck. The way it's constructed makes it a difficult invirnment for a virus to take hold, being a carpmentalized OS with multiple users with root protecting the computer. I use it for all my Internet activity including the always dodgy business of email. Even a trusted friend's email can be compromised with out him or her knowing...

idk much about the differences, but I have xp on my desktop and Vista on my laptop. I think xp is much easier to use & more organized. I like it much better.

I am not a digerati, but what I personally determine the great different is for its operating system. Microsoft’s has introduced Windows Vista, their first 3D operating system(OS). The new OS boasts several additional new features and enhancements.
But to make it run efficiently you computer's memory need to has free available at least 1.5MB RAM even though their minimum requirement only for 512MB.
