Welcome back to myLot!

After taking a break from myLot due to the narrow-mindedness of some people here and to the tiredness of answering over and over again to their shallow arguments, I am finally back.
I realised that, within 24 hours of my first post in a long time, and after a few reasonable responses in some of my friends' threads, my star rating suddenly dropped. It is not a big decrease for the moment, but I'm expecting a major dive as I keep replying in discussions that interest me.
Some things never change...

Welcome back. I am sorry about deleting you from my friend's list. I thought you were gone for good and deleted your name as a part of normal house cleaning. I have sent a new request. Please, count me again among your friends.
As to the star, while you were away I managed to not only to drop to a #1, but for a few days I had no star at all! I guess myLot understands the difference between null and zero.

Thomas, we are mixed lot here, some of us in mylot dont have the English to post anlytical discussions, so if you are out to avod shallow arguements, then am affraid you are still back to the wrong place because the shallow rguements re not about to go away. If i were you, I would attempt to transform the shallow arguements into big time analysis each time i respond to their posts, i guess that could mak a significant difference to th family of mylot friends which you ae part. As a matter of fact, I now feel very intimidated by your statement on 'narrow mindedness' and 'shallow arguements'.

No need to feel intimidated, and I wasn't criticising the language here, as most of what I call "shallow arguments" originate from native English speakers.
I was merely referring to my encounters with creationists and other Bible-thumpers who are unable to argument properly without invoking their favourite "deus ex machina".
Nothing more to it. :)

As far as am concerned Thomas, there is still more to it because, we have a rainbow of oppinions and beliefs here. For example am a creationist and believe in God so deeply that your very unkind remarks on creationist views touches my sensibilities and they indeed, become a direct affront on my belief. This brings in intolerance into mylot and Thomas you definitely should tower well above religious intolerance or bigotry-it would make all mylotters celebrate their differences. Are you an atheist Thomas? If so I would feel very un happy with anybody who attacks or denigrates you for you belief! See what I mean? And by the way, thank you for asking me to be a mylot friend, am gone approve you right away unless you delete me LOL!

As you know different peoples different ideas and it is your choice to pick best.
Don't get disappointed this happens everywhere.

After being ban from two Australian forums in 2004 and 2005... I sort of decided not to argue with people anymore.
That is actually one of the good things about myLot... It does not encourage chit chat... which prevent people from getting personal.
It is simply a question of re-phrasing your thoughts by only giving your opinion without judging anyone. If someone start arguing with me... I don't answer and walk away.
You have to learn to be a teacher. You give your opinion and people can either learn from it or stay ignorant. Don't try to change people... because all you will achieve is for them to resist you... which will re-enforce their idea that you are wrong and they are right.
We cannot change people. People need to change themself. And that's a lot of work. laugh

I agree with you that it can be frustrating to find responses in discussions that don't really apply or are so diversely opposed as to not belong and lead to negative provocations. Speaking of belong - you, my friend, definitely belong here on mylot. I for one am glad you are back. Your depth of character and high intellect is greatly appreciated. All worlds need more real people like you. As for the stars and rating thing - it would be nice if the minus button could be ignored by the whole of mylot. I know it doesn't exist in my world.

Welcome back Thomas, it seems that you can't get rid of mylot after all!LoL
I've seen some of your posts, though I haven't been to most of your discussions, I think you just have to get used of it, since people will really use everything in their enjoyment just to bring down someone and consider their success a WIN even if they've cheated.
Just continue what you enjoy here, keep on posting and provide your best opinion to other members. That's the most important thing here, never mind about them stars!;)

Welcome back my friend... I to took a much needed Hiatus from mylot, and people in general. Now that I am back among the land of the techno savvy, the ignorant, and the intellectual. I am happy to be back! my time away gave me a much needed perspective, I realized that in order to have a community in which we all can speak our minds we ALL have to relax! I left because of the repetitive nature of rudeness, a lack of "real" things to comment on, and an over disdain for those looking to make them selves feel better at others expense. However my time away made me see that the only way to change the atmosphere is to require more of your self when you are posting and commenting, not only that but when you find someone who is consistently putting forward positive topics we as a community need to stand by them. You my friend are one of the most positive, and intriguing posters around here, and you are one of the reasons I came back (I can't find anyone else who makes my mind work as hard to find answers). So again my friend welcome back I look forward to reading and commenting in the future!

Well, welcome back Thomas. I have been gone for quite a while too. I've been away for different reasons, though. I have just been extremely busy. I hope to hear more from you. Take care.

Welcome back, I hope you enjoy reading and responding to these narrow minded discussions, some things really dont change or sometimes its what we percieve them to be. Now that you are back, maybe it makes it all challenging for those who you regard as narrow minded discussions, you make life challenging for them or for us if one of those that you think are narrow minded.
happy mylotting!

The discussions themselves aren't narrow-minded, but some of the responders (a minority) is. Some are unable to argument properly to get their point across and simply quote some religious text or invoke some deity that's supposed to be the answer to everything. In doing so, they really spoil it for us at times, and I know a few mylotters who left because of that.
Thanks for the encouragements! :)

Welcome back! Some things never change but then maybe we don't either. If we just do our best to 'merge' without being too diffrent then I'm sure we find our place in society. MyLot is like a big family and we can all have 'our' place here, even those who speak out more than others. Those are the ones that I prefer reading, the ones that really have something to contribute and don't mind doing it. I may not always reply but I sure do love reading them. Looking forard to reading you too :)

Hello there! Long time no see! I am sick of the star ratings. There are many good people here that have great discussions and for their efforts they are given low star ratings. You my friend have always been a 10 in my eyes. Your discussions are ones that make your brain work. If people are afraid to work their grey matter, they should find a discussion that they will not have to think when anwering. Welcome back. You have been missed. Scarey picture and all!

Hi Thomas, stars are not good to begin with...we should not rate people based on "the cover"....
In my begining on mylot back to November of last year, we didn't have stars and it was perfect time.
I wish to change it, but hey, what can we do....
Welcome back!!!
