If you had only two dollars to spend all week..how would you portion it out? WOuld you spend it all at once or spend 50 cents here or 50 cents there? I would try to buy something quantative..like a 6packs of Roman noodles at the dollar store..which would give me 6 days of soup and 2 cans of beans whcih coul easily be divided up into 3 portions ..The seventh day would take care of itself.

I'd do the same thing as you. I'd try and buy something cheap, but something that would really last awhile. I'd make one trip count though, so I'm not tempted to try and spend more money on more things that I don't need or things that are junky and won't do me any good. I'd take a nice look at the sales papers though and see what I could get that would last if I bought some of. But I'm sure rice or noodles would be the major thing on the list.

in china, two dollars is enough for the one day food consumption per capita.but for a week, it's hard.if i have to, i will buy three big bags of ramen, containing five small bags in each, two small ones for a meal. i can eat only for 5 dyas, and be hungry for the left two days.

If you came to some African countries, you would be amazed at how abject poverty has permeated society-there are individuals who dont see money at all for over 2-3 months until they have planted, tended, harvested and sold their crops. Thats how bad the poverty level can be, during the times when they dont see money they simply survive on a hunter-gatherer economy, living on wild mushrooms, wild birds, wild game and wild weeds, things they dont buy. Very bad situaton littlefranciscan

two dollars for the whole week??? hmmm... this is really tough... i guess i just have to rely to eat plain rice with salt everyday... :-) or rice with soy sauce... :-) because that is the cheapest options and it can make me full... or bread with jam everyday... and i guess i have to eat just one meal a day... and pray to God that my situation will get better... :-)

that is a good plan you have there, littlefranciscan. I think it would be nice of me to give it to the Church, like the widows mite - and rely that God will take care of His Own... we actually have a small back storage of foods so we could go a time without having to shop for more. I've lots of rags that can be cut for hygiene wipes should the toilet paper run out. I can wash clothing in the bathtub with a plunger and some vinegar if the laundry soap should run out and I have no quarters for the machines. (actually I have an old wringer washer here that does marvelous, but the wringer is shot)
