T-rex...victim of bad press??

The Tyranasaraus Rex (King of the Lizards)has been depicted in many a Hollywood movie as a violent and aggressive predator and carnivore devouring all and sundry in its path (usually dinosaurs from another era that didnt even exist at the same time)Is this true...?? generations of children have never questioned it..a palaentologist in the US has done computer aided graphics and used theories of biomechanics to suggest that T rex was in fact a SCAVENGER...living off the dead carcasses other predators had killed..an ancient vulture or hyena even ...why so? The length of the limbs and the weight of the T-Rex would have given it a low centre of gravity that would have made it tumble in even the lightest of tussles with others..its upper limbs were absolutely useless and its speed of running has been estimated at no more than 4 miles an hour harly the pseed required to be a top predator....no one has taken any real notice of these theories ...maybe Hollywood is to balme ..the stereotype is too indelible now in our brains..what do you think...T REx top predator..or ambling clumsy scavenger?

It is possible Hollywood was to blame...but the fact about T-rex was all based on assumptions before this palaentologist in the US suggested that T-rex was a scavenger...
Even this palaentologist CANNOT prove that T-rex is 100% a scavenger unless we have one T-rex alive today.....and we have never thought it to be a scavenger. The fact that T-rex was a violent and aggressive predator has existed for too long to be proven otherwise and that is why we all think they are violent and aggressive predator..
Just like Pluto was part of our solar system until proven it wasn't a planet at all...

yes thanks to Hollywood people are more likely to believe the accepted stereotype of the T Rex despite latest technologies and reseasrch making a solid case for the alternative..the analogy with Pluto however is not quite valid...Pluto is there now and exists....T-Rex has long since gone

Like you said, its the latest technologies and research that makes the solid case for the alternative.
In the past, people do not have that technologies which is as advanced as we have now. And that is also true for Pluto, even if it is still existing now. We all thought it was a planet and that has stayed true for so many years, until someone came along and pointed out that it is not a planet.
And that is what happens to T-Rex too....Its not like we did not do the research, its just that the current technologies allow us to diagnose further and that can prove our previous research wrong

I am not surprised if the theory that you mentioned is the actual facts about the T-Rex. Hollywood has been responsible for setting many things that got stuck in our mind for ages such as there are nasty aliens out there who would like to invade earth as so on and so forth.

Yep, I've heard of this and the theory the T-Rex is a scavenger. Its size wouldn't make it that mobile, and its arms make predatorial functions a bit limited. Still, there is only fossils and hypothesis. The truth may never be known.
