I just makes me sick the way people pray on elderly people. Every week I read about that in news papers. Most are so beaten that they dont survive the attack. How can people do this? my heart goes out to those people (the victims) as if old age is not painful enough they have to deal with emotional and phisical pain on top of that. They cant fight back so they are easy targets. What do you think shoul Poeple that attack our elderly should be punished worse than atacking a 30 year old man? Considering that the 30 year old man could fight back. I am not saying that it is ok and I know that both crimes are bad and should never happen.

It is terrible!!!
These attackers are big cowards!
They are just as bad as grownups doing wrong by little children.
The children cannot fight back either.
Should they be punished more, I think maybe a mental treatment on top of the jail sentence would be a good start.
Take care, have a nice day.

I also do not understand why some people are so evil. How can they bear hurting another fellow human being? If only we human beings have more compassion and love in us. Whether the other party is an elderly, an middle aged person, a teenager or a child, we should not be attacking anyone. I believe everything can be solved without the use of violence. Violence is the least effective method to solve a problem.

Its a really touching situation. Actually what I think that most people while young forget that they will have to be in old age after sometime.
Due to this, the elders go through immense pain both physical and mental.
I really feel for them.
I hate those people who don't know to respect elders.

Its very wrong how sociaty throws away the elderly anyway. When we hear about abuse it makes me sick. I have an elderly mother in law and I have her cook for us once in awhile for her to do something. Shes a good woman. The rest of the family put her in a home and we got her out. Now she has her own house and we take good care of her. Everyone should try to find away to do this.

That is so nice of you. I had a neighbour in Macedonia she is very old she is great great grand mother (her oldest daughter has a daughter that has a daughter that has 2 kids the oldest one is about 10) so you can imagine how old she is. Her relatives come see her but not every day and all day she just sits and works in her garden. When I was there my son was a baby and my husband was in the army so I pretended that I needed her to mind my son while I did something. say wash the dishes or put the clothes on the line so I will call her to come watch him (she never picked him up only played with him). Than we will eat some food and have coffee. She felt like she was doing so much for me.

I often read this from the internet and wonder why our young people attack the olderly ones .They are old and the life of them are all difficult ,especially some lonely old people .Should the one who attack old people know they will be that one time ?It is only the problem of time .What could we do to prevent this happening ?

I feel turly sad about this news and the elderly people. Is it a failure of the education or the social morality? I have read the news about the violence to the elderly people, children and women all the time. How and when can we stop these tragedies? Through education? Law? Or?

I must say I agree with you. We are all failing everyone our kids, our elderly. I remember when I was a child my parents drilled it in my head to respect old people to help them and love them. If I didnt say good day to an older person I would hear about it at home. Now days parents dont respect their elderly so why shoule the kids be any different.

I think they should be punished much more severly, as these people can't defend them selves. We even had a senior cancer patient attacked in his hospital bed, by another patient. The other patient was a phyc patient why in Gods name did they have him in with a very sick much older patient, that hospital should be liable don't you think. What has the world come to when we abuse our elders. Bless you for writing about this.

Absolutly the hospital should take some of the blame if not most of it. I see how vonerable the old are and how some dont like to think bad about other people. My parents elderly neighbours befrended the very young people living across the street and after few weeks the young people broke into the house and stole things from the old people.

This is another result of the era we live in.
They used to rob petrol stations and shops...
But with the advance of technology... we now have security and video cameras everywhere.
Plus... the generation of today does not carry cash. They make all their purchases with plastic cards.
That leaves only one target... the elderly... because they are defenseless... and they are the only ones still carrying cash in their wallet as they never did believe in plastic cards.
I agree with you... they should increase the penalty for attacks on the elderly as a deterrent.

In my opinion, someone who attacks an elderly person is as bad as someone who attacks a child. Neither can fight back. Both of these crimes should be punished more than other attacks. Anytime someone is attacked who cannot defend themselves the person should be punished harshly. It takes a very sick person to do something like this.

I have to agree with you 100% kids and elderly are both our past and our future and its sad when we destroy that or harm it in any way.

Easy target = easy money, that is the obvious reason. However, I don't imagine that 'most don't survive attacks'. I guess that the attackers just want the elders' money, not to kill them.
Killing is stupid, you are go to prison for much longer for that.

it is very hard for an old person to mend broken arm or leg or ribs. It is a great shock and fear to them. That is why many die soon after the attack I am not saying the same day but as a result of the attack.

Hi violeta-va.Im lost for words to put on here but have alot that come to my mind to say by myself.I think its pathetic and caveman like to pray on these poor defenseless human beings that have more wisdom than most of us.Yes they should be punished mor because of the elderly age like you said who cannot protect themselves. Its cowards who "know" they can hurt them and run.

It doesnt make sence to me either why people would do such a thing. I read about these kinds of things in the paper and I wonder what people ar thinking as they do something for horrifying and against what God would want us to do. Your also right, the vistems cant fight back because they are too old obviously and have enough pain and problems with their lives and bodies! I think that if someone is is in hospial for any reason they should be watched have the moral and physical support that one needs, and that it should be a safe environment.
