Crunches can only tone the abs. They cannot get rid of the fat layer that lies on top of the ab muscles. And the only way to lose the fat is to do some form of vigorous aerobic exercise like skipping, jogging, cycling and so on for no less than 30 minutes 3-4 times a week. These exercises are a must rather than an option because they help increase the metabolic rate, causing your body to use up all stored forms of energy, in short, your fat. Aerobics exercises target specific areas of body fat, weight training increases the body's overall metabolic rate, so in a way it enhances the action of aerobics.

And don't forget that it is not the amount of crunches you do but rather the quality of the crunch, that will give you the best results.

Make sure you watch your diet to. I know my abs look a lot better when I skip out on soda for a while, not to mention fast food and junk. Four months left till he comes home? Tell me how you do it before my husband leaves for his first deployment!

The Ab Energizer. My husband is using it right now because he has a desk job so he doesn't have time to work out and he can take it with him any where he goes. I got it on ebay for only $20 for him. It takes about a month to really see a difference it works great if you haven't got enough time or if your too mentally exhausted to work out.

Exercise DAILY. I have done Kathy Ireland's 12 min Abs and it make a great difference. I don't think I have ever had a FLAT stomach, but I could feel muscles in my abs, something that I have never felt before.
I think I have given up on a flat stomach, after having 4 kids, I don't think anything of mine is the same!!!

If you want a flat, enlongated waist do stretching exercise made for this purpose. Lay flat on a weight bench (try not to arch your back) with 5 0r 10 pound weight(one)with both hands grasping it, slowly raise it from the down position(resting at the knee level)over your head with elbow bent until you feel a pull down the middle of your mid section or torso slowly lift the weight up and down. You will get a better pull if you extend your shoulders a little off of the weight bench. Repeat this process as many time as your body will allow everyday.

My husband says cardio and crunches. He says crunches are nice and all but cardio needs to be going on to burn the fat. Granted, I'm too lazy to try this. I should start. I have a treadmill at home but haven't used it in months.

I have a favorite site to share with you to flatten your stomach. This is an information site. Try this one out. I like the webmaster as I know one of her site about how to create a website. I just admire her. She is sooo generous on giving out ideas for free especially on making a decent website.
Here is the link that you can read on how to flatten your stomach. I hope you like it. I think this one is worth reading.
