Do you always remember your tattoo artist?

When I was a teen I did homemade tattoos. Just a needle and some ink, nothing very special. There was this skin head that went to school with me and saw what I did and wanted a few tats. So we went to the mall and sat in a stairway for hours doing tattoos on him. He left my school shortly after that and I didn't think anything more about him, not like we were really friends or anything. But yesterday I got a request from him to be friends on Facebook. He remembered me all these years from doing his tats. When you see your tattoos do you always remember who did them, where you were, or the phase of life you were in then?

I remember everything from getting my tats. The artists, the environment, the conversations. Getting a tat is a very special experience for me. I want to remember everything about it.

It's pretty sad if you don't, all things considered they're a permanent part of your body and you should remember who gave it to you. It's also good to stick to the same artist, cause they give you deals and they know you. I wish I had one. so I got one when I was 16 and then a few in between and when I was 21 I went to this other place and lo and behold the tattoo artist who gave me my first gave me this next one (which I think was my uh...4th) and not only did I remember him, HE remembered me. That's what's real nice. When they remember you.

I too think that getting a tattoo is a very personal, and special experience. I have 6 tattoos and the woman that gave me my first the day after I turned 18 so I wouldn't need parents consent was really sweet. She knew I was nervous, so she took it slow. Her tattoo parlour went bankrupt or something because their were so many other ones in the city (Calgary)and she was the newest. A guy gave me the other 5 and he is the best in Lethbridge! He is cute, we have a great conversation, and he has always helped me with my design so it's a little bit different which keeps it original! When I get my next tattoo I'm not 100% sure if I'll go back to Alberta and see if the guy in Lethbridge is still there or find someone here in Sask, or go to Medicine Hat thats only about a 3 1/2 hour drive from here!
