Windows XP is hands down easier to use although i do have limited exposure to linux so my opinion may be a little biased. XP is easier to install and configure. Although if the person has never used windows before, start them off on vista.

xp and linux both are best at different fields..xp is more user friendly in the sense,it has a good graphical interface and easy tools to handle a system.Even a novice can operate a xp installed system. But linux is a more secure operating system,it has a comparatively less user friendly interface, but it is improving.for this reason it is being used as a server operating system rather than in personal computers.linux requires enough knowledge to be operated

where most of the people would say that Windows operating system is user-friendly and to a certain extent I would agree to it. But the thing is as they usually have to decide what is your main aim when using the computer. If you want control over the computer then I would recommend you using Linux instead of Windows operating system because Windows is a very user-friendly operating system so it does not give you that much control if you user who want to extend your experience with control over the operating system' whereas in Linux you have full control over the operating system and you can do a lot of commanders to get control over the companies and another important factor is that you don't have invest a lot of money in the operating system as it is freeware. But the game is there are a lot of problems if you are want to install a few programmes which are not so common because not all programmes remained to install into Linux operating system.

in my personal computer i have two opetive system installed: windows Xp in a partition and linux, i use only Archlinux my favourite distro. I tried several distro like Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Mandriva, Zabayon and Debian, but I think that Arch is the best: fast, updated and not bery hard or difficult to use

Hi All! This is my 15th post in mylot discussions, and here goes . . .
Windows XP is by far more user-friendly than Linux, so friendly the user has so many ways of screwing up the system! They sacrificed security in place of the user-interface. In turn, viruses, spywares, trojans and other malwares abound Windows XP systems. Not to mention the blue screens and other nuisances. As for Linux, the user-interface is not that intuitive as compared to Windows, but security wise it is much, much better as compared to Windows. Rare cases of viruses, spywares or trojans happen in the Linux world. Ano no blue-screens and other nuisances. And not to mention that some Linux distributions are polishing up on their user-interface, making it as eye-candy as Windows is. But between the two, I still prefer Linux. I love it.

i like linux very much but if we compare windows to linux for user friendly i would say windows..
windows is very simple to use n user friendly , in linux you should have few programming skills to work wit it .. !
Rest if u want to go for more user friendly OS MAC could be on the list too .. ^_^

On easy to use front, definitely windows stands in front, no matter which version is it, but when it comes to security it is absolutely linux and not windows.

It depends on the person if he uses Linux he will said its easy to use it but if the person uses windows (winxp, vista) he would says it is more user friendly. In my case I always use the windows XP thats why when I tried the Linux I found it difficult to use unlike my friends who are using Linux and saying its easy to use.

As far user friendliness XP is best. Linux is meant for security purpose and one should clever enough to work with it. Moreover the Desktop of XP has lot of features and a layman too can use it.
