I just had this thought for a discussion. I know its not 120% but its something that just popped up while responding to another discussion. Just tell me what you think about the question. (Hey at least its not that much reading! Nor is it just something boring from my day)
What do you think of chocolate candy, cake, ice cream (or anything I haven't thought of)?
Which of these is better in your honest opinion?
Do you have any favorites that you'd like to share? (And for me to possibly put on my "to cook/bake" list depending on the item)
Anything else relevant come to mind, please post it!
Happy posting and thanks for dropping by!!

I've never had the pleasure of having either.
Maybe I'll go see if I can get them next time I shop!

I think whatever has the most ingredients will always taste better. I like variety, so if someone tells me which has more ingredients, I'll choose that one. But I'll also be hoping it isn't chocolate candy or ice cream.
My mom loves divinity. One ounce of it is too rich for me. I however have a problem with gum. Now spearmint or anything adult like. I like the Bubblicious Watermelon, the different colored balls of gum, it's sad! If it weren't for the sugar content, I may have broken my jaw for chewing so much! By the way, this is not a 120% discussions we all know. It's a 125% discussion! May peace, hope, and gum be with you always.

So candy and ice cream is out... Hmm...
And if you think divinity is bad, maybe devil's delight will really get ya :)
If you want a chocolate cake recipe, just ask Ambie!

Hey, what about chocolate pudding!?! This is one of my favorite comfort foods. Not the instant stuff either, it has to be the one you cook on the stove. Add a dollop of whipped cream and I am a happy camper.

Excellent! That's why I put Other in the topic since I know I was missing things. Someone else mentioned donuts. And then I just thought of cookies.
The homemade version is pretty good I must say. Though I can make due with the regular or prepackage, making homemade versions of it allows for some creativity. And its just heavenly!

Heh heh! I love it Purple!
Now, if you want help with chocoholism... it probably isn't wise to ask a growing pastry chef and confectioner (hobbies, but still... XD)
Of course if you want some moderation or some alternate tips for chocolates you know I'd seriously be willing to help out if possible!

I think candy, because you can eat candy anywhere and anytime that you don't need a plate, cup or spoon to eat.

I'll have to try and seek out this yam flavor... never heard of it.
I've seen plenty others (and want to invent a couple), but never yam...

I am not into candy, as such. I do love chocolate. Probably my favourite is cake, or I am very fond of carrot cake.
I love some icecreams, but I can't overdo it with icecream due to the lactose content.
I am very much a caramel, maple syrup, chocolate type person.
Here is a great chocolate cake recipe:
PERFECT CHOCOLATE CAKE
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c. milk
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1/4 tsp. Jamaican allspice
1 egg yolk
2 c. cake flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1 c. superfine sugar
2 egg yolks
3 T. water
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. dark rum
2 egg whites, whipped
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 2 - 9 inch layer cake pans.
Whisk together chocolate, milk, allspice, brown sugar and one egg yolk in the top of a double boiler, stirring until a custard is formed and mixture thickens. Cool. Stir in baking soda and salt. Sift the flour onto waxed paper.
In bowl of electric mixer, whip the butter, gradually adding sugar and two egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
In a cup, stir together 3 T. water, 1/2 c. milk, and 1 tsp. vanilla extract and 1 Tbsp. dark rum.
Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture alternating with the vanilla/milk/water mixture. Stir in the chocolate custard mixture and beat until smooth, approximately two to three minutes at medium speed of mixer.
In a clean bowl, using the wire whisk attachment of your electric mixer, beat two egg whites until soft peaks form; gently fold into cake batter.
Turn into greased layer cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees F. for about 25 minutes or until cake tester or toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Turn out onto wire racks to cool. Level with a serrated knife if required, then stack and frost with chocolate frosting.
Note: This recipe calls for superfine sugar, not to be confused with confectioners or 10X sugar. If you don't have superfine sugar you can pulse regular granulated sugar in the food processor to substitute. Domino supplies superfine sugar in 1 pound packages at the supermarket or in larger quantities at the bakery supply or foodservice outlet. Superfine sugar dissolves readily and works best for cakes, helping to produce a lighter texture.

Arrr Jenny! It seems you are cutting to another purpose of this discussion.
"Are you laying down the gauntlet!?"
Kidding! Kidding!
But I'm snickering a bit as I post this.
Thanks for the recipe.
I'll put down one of mine for fun.
*******************************
Dark Chocolate Cake
1 cup unsweetened cocoa
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups white sugar
1 cup of coffee (dark)
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoons vinegar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F/175 degrees C. Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
In a large bowl: combine your flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda & powder and salt. Now when they are well mixed you have to make a well or volcano in the mixture. Pour in the coffee, milk, eggs, oil and vinegar inside of this well so those components can get a start on mixing separate (also saves you using another bowl). Mix and beat until smooth. The batter will be thin so don't be discouraged about it. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan.
Optional: You can get grated chocolate or chocolate chips and pour in half the mixture then put the grated chocolate on that. Then pour on the rest of the mixture on top of that.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. Test by inserting a toothpick into the center of the cake and see if it comes out clean. Allow to cool.

Hee hee, another chocolate cake fan!
Having it with icecream in the cake itself is bliss. Sadly, I've not put it plain on the cake...
*lightbulb goes bright over my head*
I just devised a recipe, but it'll take a bit to tweak out.
If you are interested in seeing it, you just have to respond Jill. :)
Oh yea, I haven't had the New York style turtle, but I've had the other types. I've even made a few custom versions myself. Possibly something to get for the holidays if I remember it
Thanks again Jill.

Well Kio thank you! But uh, I don't just work hard and bake. I also cook. I've responded to some cooking threads on here and some "calls to recipe" threads on here. I think I've got a couple of BRs too. Other than that, just look through the cooking section. Or I'll have to get my Mylot Resume discussion completed and post that.
Now as for your comment to topic, you are preaching to the choir. Cake is one of my favorites and so is Ice Cream. Candies are good too, but I can only do so many at a given time (except for Pocky. That I have no problems with. Strange, in my opinion).

I love Ice Cream so I would have to put this down as a favorite. There is something you can always do to make ice cream exotic or just plain fun. I love to add things to my bowl of ice cream. Any flavor of ice cream will do with the exception of ice cream with nuts or coconut in it. Other than that I love any flavor.

I like candy, but give me sour candy anyday. I always say that I'm so sweet that sour candy doesn't bother me. Ha ha. As for cake, I like cake, but I don't like a lot of frosting. I'm into that whipped cream-like frosting. I like chocolate or yellow cake. Ice cream is awesome, but I don't eat it much. I like making sundaes covered in all kinds of stuff. One of my favorite things to eat is vanilla ice cream in chocolate sauce and covered with mini marshmallows. The marshmallows get kinda hard and it's good. So which is better? I like cake and ice cream and dipping regular potato chips in the frosting. With a side of sour candy. :P

Sour candy... now that I'd have to go to the drawing board for if I was to make chocolates out of it. Another idea for me to try out soon enough. Thanks Flight.

Well that's fine. Not everyone likes chocolate, but at least you have something else to like. Plus chocolate dipped strawberries are exquisite...
