I put an ad on freecycle.com for a small artificial christmas tree and a very nice woman responded saying she had one she needed to get rid of because now that her kids are all living out of state she and her busband are only using a table top tree from now on. Well, she brought it to me today! I thought I would put it together to see how much room I would need and what would need to be moved and then I would take it down again...if it was a smaller one.
WELL! The thing is about 6 feet tall and at least 3 feet wide! I had to do a lot of rearranging since the room is very small. Now that it's up there's no way I'm taking it down again because it took me an hour to figure out the color coding and the whole thing. I've been planning on decorating it Thanksgiving night when my granddaughter is here so she can help me so I'm just going to leave it where it is. I'm going to have to learn to get around it now that it's there...lol...but it's going to look awesome decorated and I know my granddaughter is going to love it!
Have you ever wished for something, got it and it was more than you hoped for? Tell us about it!

I never actually wished for it, but I did want something in particular and got it. It was my current car that I got a couple of months ago. Now that I have it my husband wants me to drive it all the time, even when I'm not up to it, or I've driven more than I wanted to that day. I guess since I rubbed it in that I didn't have a car for so long (unintentionally most days while I was carless :P), he'd get me back by having me drive around town since I have my car now.

Glad you finally got your tree, ctry. I don't blame you for not wanting to take it down when you'll just have to repeat the process soon. Sure, I've often gotten things that I wished for and they turned out to be more than I hoped for. One example is the time I really needed a washer because it was so inconvenient for me to get to the laundromat. My aunt surprised me with a small apartment-sized washer and I really had to do some juggling to get it to fit into my tiny kitchen area. It finally worked out well in the end, and I really enjoyed the relief I got from not having to stress over my laundry.

Apartment size washers are awesome. My place is so small I don't even have room for one of those but thankfully we have washers and dryers in the basement here.

You're so lucky :D
Yeah, I've desired to go to my girlfriend on Christmas for a few days, but my parents didin't wanted. I asked help to my sister, to act like if she was givin' me the ticket as present (I wanted to buy it, so she hadn't to spend nothing), but she sais that she'll pay it for me, and i'm so happy now.

oh yes many times and some times its the other way around, we wish for something and get less than we expected, but i have also learned to be thankful either way..It was very nice of the lady to give you a tree.Even though it is larger than you expected , i am sure after you get it all decorated it will be the most beautiful tree ever..I have never heard of this web-site but now that you have told us, i plan to go to this site and check it out.I might have something in my bunch of collections that someone can use... Congratulations on your new tree..

Thank you. It does look like it's going to be awesome. I've already strung the lights on it to make sure I have what I need. Freecycle.com is awesome. I just gave two winter jackets that my granddaughter grew out of to a woman who was in desperate need and it made me feel good to help her.

Just be thankful there are enough branches on it. I have gotten a couple trees given to me thinking cool I am set, and then put the thing up and half the branches are missing. LOL
I had someone give me three huge bags of clothes for the kids, which I was thankful they thought to give them to me, but only a few items actually fit the kids and I had to store the rest of it until I could give them to someone else.
Oh well the price was right Eh?

Well I don't have any stories, but it sure looks like I need to check out freecycle after reading these posts! I've come to the conclusion that if you are wishing and your wishes don't come true, then it's time to go out and make them come true yourself! It sounds like that's exactly what you did. :)

With Freecycle.com I don't have to ship any thing do I? Because I want to get rid of an item since I can't sell it but I don't want to spend money on shipping either.

I got more than I thought I would when it came to getting a husband. He's really cool!
That sounds like some tree! You'll love it while you have it, but you may be really ready to have it gone after the holidays. Just think how big your house will beel when it's gone! 3 feet wide in a small room, wow! Take care and enjoy your X-mas!

What a perfectly beautiful tree!! You can't even tell in the photo that it's artificial! I bet it's going to be absolutely gorgeous when it's decorated.
And I have a story that possibly fits this topic... we were in Oregon with a motor home and a second car that my daughter drove (I didn't trust the rickety motorhome we had to pull it!)
I had been wanting a Volkswagon convertible Cabriolet for years, but had not found one in a price range I could afford that was in decent condition.
Well, one day we were driving along and there one was, parked by the side of the road, with a for sale sign on it. It was in perfect shape physically and mechanically, and had had only one owner who had kept it well maintained. The parents of the young woman who was selling it had bought it for her many years ago when it was new, but she had now gotten herself another car and was selling this one for only $250!!! She was well off and didn't need the money, she just wanted to give it a nice home.
Well, needless to say, we bought it faster than she could change her mind. The problem was, we now had 3 cars and only 2 drivers... and over 2000 miles to travel to get it home!

Wow what a nice surprise although it took you alot of work to make enough room for the tree I am sure you will enjoy it. It is nice when wishes do come true and I hope wishes come true for everyone this holiday season.
