Is paper the greatest invention ever.....
If you think all great inventions started from a piece of paper....Those that invented things wrote their ideas on a piece o paper......
And not only that, paper is used in our days a lot.
What do you think?

I think the greatest thing invented is electricity.. I know it wasnt invented ..just captured and utilized..without electiricty..even making paper would be long and tedious..and surely we would not be writing here on mylot..We would have to go by candle light and how would we heat our coffee or food;)

Everything did start from a piece of paper it's true, from writers, to artists to inventors, everything went down onto paper. However now we are into the age of technology, sadly paper is not as used, although it's in a good respect as we have to protect the planet and by cutting down more trees for paper is not good. Computers and modern technology is replacing paper. I also think electricity is one of our greatest inventions and one that we take highly for granted. How would this world exist WITHOUT electricity?

yup paper was indeed a great invention. earlier people use to write on bark of trees and on stone but they were bulkier and easy degradeble thinks.paper was invented and then used as it is not bulkies, cheap source and everywhere availble
even in resturants u get tissue paper to write important thing or now a days it is being used in evey possible way , may be it is dollar or note or railway ticket or bills etc, books are written and conserved properly thats why all old books are preserved for refrences

I agree it is a very important part of our lives today. I write things down every day and the children need lots and lots of it daily. Also what is great is that it is recyclable too. Vicki

Nope. The greatest invention ever was writing. That allowed people to record things in a permanent form so that knowlege could be easily passed from generation to generation. Paper was invented in China and only reached Europe during the first millenium CE. For thousands of years before then, people used clay, papyrus or parchment (which is made from animal skin) to write on.

Let we think writing would not progress so much without invention of books.........so paper and writing are some of the greatest inventions.

If paper was not invented, we would not have had books. Papyrus does not last, and rots in humid climates, you have to go and kill cows to make parchment, and you have to use the stylus quickly putting marks on clay. As for carving marble, try writing a book. Besides you have to not get to laryngitis if you have to tell the stories or give the news all the time.

Yes paper made things more easy.....so people before us could have left us great information. If we would not have those informations the world would not be as we know it.

Paper is one of the greatest inventions in the world, without which it would be rather inconvenient as paper is widely used in many ways in our daily life. Just think of the books, the newspapers and the magazines that we read every day, you would have to agree that it is a great invention together with other inventions.

Ha. I just can't help it, I have to say it, here it goes.......Thank God for toilet paper! Ok, now seriously, YES I think paper is one of the greatest inventions ever. Although people use their computer more than paper these days, where would we be without all that great stuff that was written down on paper before computers?

Hi Laurentyu!
I agree that it is very important indeed in daily life. I use it from the moment I get up in the morning (and go to the bathroom lol) all through the day when I smoke (can't get out of the habit) to when I'm working, eating (napkins) reading and goodness knows hom many rolls of kitchen paper I get through!
It's another of the things we take for granted and never stop to think how we would get on without it. Take care!
