Since the decorations I'm using this year are new to me of course I don't have a favorite yet but looking through them I came across a few that I like very much and know will be my favorites. One of them is a box with 3 little kids in it singing and you put one of the tree lights inside it and it lights up! I'm going to love putting that one on the tree.
Do you have one or two favorite ornaments for your tree? Have you had your ornaments and decorations for a long time or are they on the newer side?

Hallmark always did make the most beautiful and cherished Christmas ornaments.

When the kids wer little I had lots of hand made ones and of course they are my favs. But once a little older, I started buying them a special ornament each year - kind of to their own personalities. Loved hte western horse saddle one I gfound for my son! But once they got married, the first year they were gone, as I set up my tree, I'd take those that Ihad gotten them and gave them all to them for their first tree! They really liked that! Spouses were a bit jealous as their mom hadn't done soemthing so special for them, but I do what I do for mine! Anyway, now my one grand daguther will give me an ornament every year with her picture in/on it. That is the best! I can see her throught out the years and just another reason to look at the pretty tree!

I used to have one. When I was a baby my dad bought 3 blown glass ornaments for me. One was an angel, one was a clown and one was a dog. They were beautiful and very fragile. I remember as a kid my mom would gingerly unwrap them from the mountain of paper towels and newspaper and I would show her exactly where I wanted them hung (high on the tree so they wouldn't get broken). As I got older I was allowed to hang them myself.
When I was 12 we moved and, as you know, things get broken when you move. All but one of the ornaments was destroyed in the move and I remember crying and crying over them not because they were really spectacular and beautiful (they were pretty beat up and most of the paint had chipped off of them) but because of the traditions they represented to me...the memories of my mom unwrapping them and telling me where they came from.
I remember unwrapping the last one and hanging it up when my children were little and telling them all about it. Then a few years ago I went to put it up and found it was smashed in the box. I was devastated. It still hurts to think about losing that last ornament.
I love decorating our tree. I remember when we got most of the ornaments and love to tell my children about them. Most we have had since I was a newborn. Some are older then me. Some we got for my children when they were little.
I love the fact that right next to the ornament my 7yo made in Kindergarten (in 2005) I can hang the ornament that I made in Kindergarten (in 1982).

Ok, you've got my attention. LOL I haven't been responding to many or any discussions lately because I've been so down and out but this one I had to!! LOL Yes yes yes! I have a favorite two! One is an angel that my mom got me when I was born. It'll be 43 years come this Christmas and I treasure it with all of my being! My two older brothers got one too when they were born and my oldest brother got a santa and my next in age brother got a snow man with a black hat and cane. They're really cute! I make sure my angel gets put up at the top front for all to see!
My second favorite is the two hearts with a pretty ribbon that says "Our First Christmas Together" in which my mom got for us on our first Christmas. I always put it above my angel so it can be seen as well. It's going to be 16 years old come this Christmas. Those two are my absolute favorites. Then I have all of the disney ones that I got over the years which aren't cheap either. I love disney as I do a lot of other things that I bought for our tree. There is one thing I can't find no matter how hard I try, which is Casper the friendly ghost. I've looked everywhere and still can't find it. I like Popeye and got a couple of those but no Casper yet. Those were the two favorite cartoons of mine when I was a child.

LOL I'm working on it but it's hard. When things get better than they are now is when I just might get better but as they are, it's hard to fight the down and out. We don't have money to buy ornaments for our families like we do every year but can't this year. It'll be our first time and it really sucks. I know my family will understand but still, it's the giving that makes it fun. Anyway, thanks for caring enough to want to try at cheering me up! It's well appreciated!! Blessings to you!

My favorite Christmas decoration is a really........weird,,no........it's cool. It is a k'nex roller coaster. On the base of the tree, I connected the base of my coaster. My tree has fiber optics and as my roller coaster moves, the fiber shakes and makes for a cool effect. You can buy a k'nex roller coaster from Toys R Us for about $50 but you need an active imaginative mind. I had to change the original design a LOT! But it was a lot of fun. :)

My fav is a small white velour covered bell, that has holly berries on top, and a very small Santa Claus standing at a doorway in the side of it.I used to face it towards the sofa so I could lay there and dream of fitting into it,lol.

I have two ornaments that means a lot to me. They are precious moments of the year my children was born. There are other ornaments, that means a lot as well. I mean who doesn't love something your child makes to hang on the tree each year. I hope my youngest makes something this year, being it's her first year in school. If not, I will enjoy making one with her to put on the tree.

My favorite decorations for my tree, ctry are three little angels who are adorable. I have a small tree(table top)and it will not hold a lot of decoration. I bought these little angels several years ago, and they are so cute that I can't imagine my tree without them. I always place them so that they will be seen by anyone who comes into my apartment, and they never fail to get noticed.

I don't have a particular favorite Christmas decoration, although I've been to some shops and they have Christmas trees extensively and beautifully decorated. If I wanted my tree to look like those, it will cost me a bundle. Each Christmas, I usually put up a tree that looks like the one shown in the picture. That's pretty enough for me, I think. The decorations that are in the red circular frame are actually cross-stitched designs done by my wife, so my tree is kind of personalised in a way. When I was on holiday the past week, I bought a string of 200 multi-colored Christmas lights, which I will use on my tree this year instead of the yellow lights you see. I can't wait to put up my tree and see the difference. Maybe I will post another picture with the muti-colored lights when my tree is up.

My favourite decoration is an old doll that we dress up as a fairy and then put it on top of the tree. It has been in the family since the early 1900's and passed down through each generation. Now i have it and I love it. One arm is falling off the dress is tatty her wand is bent but christmas wouldn't be the same if she wasn't there in her rightful place on top of the tree :) Everybody treats her with care so as not to cause anymore damage lol if we had to replace her beacause of damage it would be a great loss.It is a responsibility looking after her but it keeps me in touch with my ancestors and christmas memories. I wouldn't want it any other way :)

I make Christmas tree with different colors every year.
Year 2007 is going to be pink and red.
This is year of fire pig by Chinese horoscope, so the colors are accurate...
It will have pink ornaments and red light....

We will be buying a new Christmas tree this year so all our decorations will be new too. Most definitely have lights and a few ornaments and something for the top as well. I'll let my son choose them and decorate it with him too.

I actually have made many of my decorations over years. Though I still have some oldies, like a beautiful unicorn decoration, and a few kitty or bird-shaped ones and a few Disney character ones that are really rather old. But I made a lot of dreamcatcher ornaments, and my tree topper is also a Dreamcatcher I made...have one of them here

My sister started a tradition when my daughter was born of giving my children one new ornament a year. Now that they are 12, 8 and 6 they have a nice little collection going on. They would have to be the most important part of the decorations in our house as they each hold a special meaning behind them for each child. When they left home they will take they collection with them for their tree. We have very few traditions so I love that we made one and are keeping it. Vicki
