Now this is the story. Our Factory Storekeeper who has been employed in our company for the last 20 yrs, got caught in a fraud. Nobody could imagine a person like him could do such a fraud. That is, he has been selling our product, underhand to distributors and collecting money. Our CEO had such faith in him, he is still shocked. All the co-workers are very upset and they dont know how to deal with this situation where their trusted friend defeated them. How do you think one should deal with such a situation?

Persons who are working in stores think that they can do whatever they want, by manipulating the records. They probably do for 2 reasons: 1. Earn money in this manner to meet (i) extra expenses of their personal nature (ii) to get rich quick (iii) if they have some emergent family needs. Whatever is the case, the action of employee is condemnable and dismissing his is the right punishment and setting a good example for others who are planning to do similar things.

Thats what he has done. Manipulate. Please check my answer to the first post of this discussion. People are attracted to money so much they dont understand the position of the family if they get caught. I feel very bad about his son who kneel down before this man every morning before going to school.

Well, all crimes have corresponding penalties and that's how the situation should be dealt with. After that, always always follow the strict rule : when it comes to money a 100% trust should never be given.

You are very correct. I always wonder why people are attracted to money this much.

If that storekeeper is your old employee and if he was trust worthy person, then how he has changed all of sudden? This question remains to be asked? Another thing is has he been doing this type of activity for a long time and he is caught just now? If not then it may be because of the circumstances. Many a times we find that even the most honest person becomes dishonest because of the unfavourable circumstances. If that is the case, then he can be treated with little sympathy or otherwise he should be dealt with strict punishment because this sort of action will set an examples on the minds of the other employees.

The sales dept says that he must have been doing this for more than 6 months. He has seen that the lady security who is checking the loading is not rechecking her record with the loading chit filled by the storekeeper. The records are correct on the security book and the loading chit which comes to sales dept is wrong. He has studied this and started loading more and recording less. To answer your question whether he is having unfavourable circumstances, I think all of us in this country are having that. But I firmly believe that it is not an excuse to rob the place he works. I feel sorry only for his 7 yr old son and wife. He is in prison remand for the last one week now. I dont know what will happen cos now its police case.
