Have your wishes ever come true?

I know Christmas is coming but this is not wholly about Christmas. Yes, it is about Christmas wishes, but not only that - it is about your New Year wishes, birthday wishes, etc wishes too.
Have your wishes ever come true?
I think there are 2 broad kinds of wishes - general ones and specific ones. If you are being general, you perhaps wish for things like "world peace" or "good health". If you are being specific, you perhaps ask for a new car or to ace the end of year exam. For me, my general wishes typically work out but I gather it was more like the "natural course of things" i.e. it would happen that way whether I did "wish" or not. But regarding my specific wishes, even decades of making the same wish seem to be just an accumulation of futile effort. =(
What about you? Have your wishes ever come true? What kind of wishes have you made and on what occasions? Do share your thoughts and experience! =)

I once wished to have my way to university-it looked so hard because my teachers at High school were a bunch of drunkards. I shared this wish with a close friend who told me we could accomplish that wish together if we developed self belief. We set about working very hard, reading ahead of the sylabus and building a strong discussion group. When University entrance exams came, we passed in flying colours and we were pleasantly rewarded for combining hard work with wishes. Empty wishes with a work plan is utopian, you must combine wishes with a guided effort to reach your wish destination.

I must say those last two sentences were very well said. Many people pray and wish for so many things when the truth is they have the power to make those dreams and aspirations transpire for themselves.

Wishing something and waiting for it to come true is totally illogical from my point of view..usually i wish..i work for it belive in my wish..fight for it and finally make it happen..everybody wishes but wishing and making it is man..iam totally practical person..if my wish dont come true i feel there is something wrong in my attempt and find out and work it out..life has thought me this..

If i make wishes i always wish for happiness in the whole world and i always wish for luck for my family but they haven't come true yet.
Some wishes maybe but i can't remember.I always make wishes for the new year and i don't always share them with others. But i'm sure one day all my wishes come true.

Hi lordwarwizard! Well, just as you have said my general wishes always come true one way or the other. For my specific wishes, I am still waiting for it to come true. Been praying hard and wishing hard and doing everything the best I can to make it somehow come true for a long, long time now. However, I am not losing faith..one day it will come true, I know somehow it will. I do admit that there are days that I just want to throw the towel and just give up and not to wish and believe anymore but I guess, my heart just don't wanna give up..for I truly wish that a family member of mine whom I love so deeply will recover from his illness. I have been praying and wishing the same thing for 14 years now. Sigh! Take care and have a nice day. :)

I always think that christmas wishes are just for kids and a childish things. So in my entire life i never wish and made some promises too especially during yultide seasons. But last year, i think of celebrating my christmas with someone who would be very special to join my cheering of celebration. You know why i meet a person who shared with me the christmas celebration. it was really great being with someone special. SO in this event, i realize sometimes, childish things are good things too. Cheers!

two years ago, i wished for true love. sounds cheesy, huh? but i guess most of us wish for one true person to love us. and just that same year, he came into my life. and we're still together until now. more inlove day after day.
my wish for this year is to be able to have a job next year. you are right, having a job is just a natural course of things. but i will still wish for it. i really wanna work. but i cannot for now. i migrated to sweden to be with my boyfriend and i am glad i did it. i am now studying the swedish language. it's a necessity for me to be able to land on a job here in sweden. so, now, i wish to finish school next year and finally get a job.

My wishes are a waste of time. That may sound quite negative but every time I get close to having a wish come true something happens to ruin it. Nothing ever turns out the way it should be or the way I would like it to be.

hmm.. one specific or major wish of mine came true about exams!hehehe it was the first important examination of my life and i was not much pepared for that especially one particular subject. and i kind of wished that my exams would be postponed for quite a time though at that time it seemed not possible. and can you believe my happiness when i heard that it got postponed not by 10 days or few weeks but whole two months!!?^^ that was enough time for me to pass the exam in a "respectful" way!;)
now most of my wishes involve that i don't get to meet a particular relative!hehe they are very much a headache these days;) but seems there's no luck with the relatives and wishes could do nothing in their cases!

I dont know. I used to wish for things when I was a kid. Then I grew up. At this point I no longer make wishes cause I cant remember the last time one came true.

Hi friend..
I have a stern and unassialable faith in GOD, and in my religion.
I just follow one simple line in all these days, which is often told by my Guruji..
It is " Help ever, and hurt never"
Do you find that, i am not responding to your topic.. Hold on friend.. I always believe that God.. knows what to Give and at what time to give.. and therefore i dont ask for any specific wishes..for me..
As, you said, i often pray for "Wordly peace" and ask God, repeatedly, " God, please.. make this world war free, and let no one die due to an unnatural cause..and things go on like that"
And have a good day comarade:)

I don't really make wishes. I have hopes sometimes but I usually keep my hopes fairly low. I'm not really pessimistic, more realistic I believe. things in life are not always all happy go lucky and you've gotta expect the good and the bad, so I just don't see the point much in wishing for things when what is going to happen is going to happen whether you wish for it or not.

Hello Wizard.
In my life I have had many wishes, hopes, dreams and aspirations. Most of the time things have a tendancy to work themselves out for better or for worse. But I still make wishes, often in the vain hope that they might actually come true. However, I remember a old friend once saying to me "Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it" LOL
In the past I have wished for
a) a good sized Lottery win - it hasn't happened yet
b) better health - nope not happening
c) 20 years younger - impossible
d) a peaceful life - it's slowly happening
e) better standard of living - again, it's slowly happening
I guess you get nothing for nothing in this life, but wishes and dreams can sometimes be the catalyst to push you onto the right path to achieve.

It always come true at the time when I least expected it and that could be years later. lol. There are some wishes I am still waiting but not sure if it will come in this lifetime. It never comes true within a time specific frame I wanted it to be.
