Whenever I read before going to bed, it makes me feel more awake than sleepy. What about you?

The same goes for me . Every night I take out the current book I am reading and just start reading. After the first several pages my eyes start getting tired and I start getting sleepy . Sometimes I fall asleep with the book in my hand and wake up and then put the book away. I dont know what it is but a book always makes me sleep. Here I thought I was the only one that this happens to, well glad to know that I am not the only one. I am just wondering why reading makes me sleepy. Maybe because it is relaxing or something. If you know anything about why reading makes some people sleepy would you send me a message cause now I am curious as to why reading makes me sleepy.HUGH...I guess I will have to do some research tomorrow to.

most of the time it really depends on how good the book is

Yea. Books always put me to sleep. The only books that I read are text books. I dislike reading since young. This is one big problem of mine. I only read when I have to. =D

It depends on the book. Harry Potter books does not make me feel sleepy, but if I am reading just because I just want to go sleep, I see to it that I do not read thought-provoking books. :)

I read in bed, just before I go to sleep. I used to read a book but now I just read a magazine. But not a ordinary magazine, I read a magazine with short stories, like True Romance or True Confessions. That way if I fall asleep while reading, oh well. I can just start the story over again or read just a little to remember what it was about. I do fall asleep more often than not when reading in bed. I like to read to forget about my every day problems for awhile and relax. This is my way of destressing at bedtime. Get the brain to quit working.

Of crouse It help me relax a little bit, but most of the time I'M always too much into a book, so I always end up going to bed late lol. When I start a really good book I always tell myself I will only read one chapter before going to bed, but I always read 2-3 lol

Yes. I think so. When I could not sleep easily, normally I will take a book or magazine and start to read it. And then normally after reading few pages I will feel sleepy and fall asleep easily.

Read book - book
Hello magumiart. Yes, reading book make me sleepy. I often cannot sleep early like my brothers. So, I asked my mom how to make me sleepy. Then she give me one glass of milk and give me a science book. After three(3) minutes, I fall asleep. This tips really really works(for me)! and I will always reading book if I want to sleep early. HAPPY LUCKY. **prettyhanan**

For me, it really depends on the book I am reading -- whether is a fiction or non-fiction book, something I am interested in or just for casual read. Also, if I really want to read that book, I will avoid reading when I am sleepy.

I think it is not necessarily the reading part that makes you start to get sleepy. I think it is the being relaxed in a home setting, your in a comfortable position and not doing anything physical so you tend to feel more at ease and as you read, you don't realize how time goes by so you do end up getting sleepy.

Will it answer your your question if I told you that the last thing I usually do before going to bed is reading? Anyway, I have weak eyes, and at night when Am exhausted reading helps bring the sleep. It depends on what book am reading though. The last novel I read was so interesting that I could not sleep without finishing it. I usually re-read stuff I have read before, and know so that I do not get so involved in the story. It is then easier for me to fall asleep that way.

Sometimes reading a book does make me feel sleepy. No matter what kind of book Im reading. When I was in school and I have to read boring subjects in school it does make me fall asleep faster.

Reading books before going to bed makes me feel sleepy. It is effective if you read informative books. It may make you feel awake if the book makes you imagine or think a lot. Try also reading right on your bed.
