Cough! Cough! No Voice!

I am coughing so much and I can barely talk. I'm here at work and the phone has been ringing and I can hardly say anything! The persons on the other end have been very kind and understanding, thank God! It is so frustrating! Are any of you battling this laryngitis/bronchitis stuff? I see the Dr tomorrow morning. I just need to be patient!

In 1997 or so I caught a bad cold in March. I got up one morning with no voice. I mean, I got up and tried to say "Hi Cat" to my cat Gnu and what came out was "ak" The kicker was that I wasn't coughing, my throat didn't hurt - nada. I just didn't have a voice. I got to work & worked for over an hour before someone actually spoke to me and they discovered I didn't have a voice. They took me off answering the phone (1 phone + 5 people means only one day duty to answer the phone.) I actually lost the voice on Friday - the day after my phone duties, but 3 weeks later I still didn't have a voice. Even in MAY I was asking the Doctor why I couldn't talk normally - he said he liked my "deep sexy voice." I knew he was joking. I was on THREE different antibiotics to kick this bug!

I haven't had it in a long time. Can't say that I would want it again any time soon. Good luck with the doctor.

Here is agood home remedy for you. 1 table spoon of unhomagenized apple cider vinegar (get at the health food store)and 1 table raw honey. It cleared up my grandsons sore throat in a day or too. You won't get the venegar at the grocery store. The vinegar at the grocery stores has been homonigized to remove the Mother which is very healthy for you. it just doesn't look very pertty.

Hi dee, I am all for home remedies! The thing is, the closest health food store from me is about 8 miles. Maybe I can get someone to go and get me some of that! Thank you so much!

I pray a speedy recovery for you. I have been fortunate than I haven't had it. I had a bout of allergies a few weeks ago, and I took extra vitamin C and echenatia (spelling not correct) and used some nose spray. This crazy weather we have been having doesn't help much!

Hmmm i can imagine the phase u r going through but if u have any thing like Mint or Strepsils, just chew it and it will sooth ur throat Hot coffee is not bad option either for First aid. and it would be great if u have hot water with asprin or table salt and have gurgles but seeing doctor is better for proper medication Take care

Yes, I am in the same boat, but luckily, I have fought for so long, that the minute it comes on, I get to my doctor and down those meds, then I also have my arsenal: Kleenex, blankets, pillows, chicken noodle soup, Halls Cough Drops, and my computer.

I have no idea what I have, but it is pretty bad. I know 2 weeks ago, both my son and I were sick, but this time it seems to be just me. Bad sinus' and a cough to where the only way to get rid of it is to guzzle down a lot of water..

Yeah, I'm drinking lots of water. The Dr said there is a lot of this going around right now. I hate to be sick for Thanksgiving and since I have a fever, I am contagious. I don't want to give this junk to my family. I will just see how I am tomorrow for Thanksgiving. Thanks, carmel!

Yes you are right it is real difficult time when you are suffering from cold and cough. Take care and take some medicine for controling it. My grand mother used to give " Honey + crush ginger " one tea spoon to control cough. I also take clove to control cough. these are some ayurvedic form of remedy.

I find having coughs very inconvenient and embarrassing that whenever I have one, i have the tendency to just stay at home. It really makes me feel like a dog who keeps on barking. LOL! its just embarrassing.

I work on the phones selling all day and have just come back to work after a bout of tonsilitis! I am going to have them taken out in about 4 weeks so am looking forward to never havin that damn illness again but the prospect of 2 weeks worth of throat pain is undesirable to say the least!
