In this highly changing world, should people really sleep for long hours - especially youths?

Hey everyone. My names David, Im 13 and I have sleep apnea/ insomnia or w.e. they call it now. Every night I go to bed at like 10:30 or so, but I just lie there thinking about random things before I finally fall to sleep after more or less a few hours. I want to go to sleep, but I just cant and its really hard to deal with. On nights where it takes extra long to drift into sleep, I wake up in the morning with terrible pains in my back/stomach. This is worst during the school year when I have to get up at 6 a.m. I have never told anyone what Im about to say because I am way to embaressed, but since im never going to know any of u i feel fine saying it: About a year ago I started taking this pill called heightmax because I was always the shortest one in my class, and thats when it all started. I stopped after a few months, and I regret ever starting every day. It was the worst mistake ever, because now I have to live with this. Your all right, sleep is extremely important for the overall health of youths like me. I just wish i had it.

it depends on about your age.....older people can get by with 6 or 7 hours while teenagers need 9 or 10...and younger kids need about 10...it depends on your age

According to most of the advise from professional sourses that we should have at least 4 to 7 hours to provide ourself sufficient rest expecially for youths. The best timing will be from 10pm onward which is believed to be most effective timing. A part from that there's stil somethings to do with the quality of rest such do we sleep well the whole session without dreaming (expecially those nightmare)!

It is undesputable the phenomenon or whatever cannot be exempted in humanity. But it is also very important to appreciate the fact that too much of it is perilious, especially yo the youth.

Yes. Sleep is very important not only for physical rejuvination, but mental processes as well. How much varies with factors like age and activity. To find out how much you personally need, pick a time when you don't have to get up, but aren't excessively tired, then simply renenber approximately what time you went to sleep and sleep until you wake up naturally. The length of time you slept is an appromimation of how much your body really needs.

Sleeping is really important, because it is renewing for the soul, that’s why if one didn’t sleep for along time (5 hours/ day)- at least – will be nervous, depressed, & confused. And one will loose concentration on every thing around him. So please . . . please go to sleep whenever you feel to. [the best way is to go to sleep at 10:30pm and awake at 03:15 to ask God for forgiveness 15 to 30 mins and then sleep again for 1 or 2 hours. Then try to have 15 to 30 sleeping break at 01:30pm – this will give you power for the rest of your day] try that please.

sleep is important for every individual.
mostly for youth 6 hours sleep is more than enough and it should be a sound sleep so that next morning will be lightening..
number of hours of sleep depends on the condition when u sleep..
sleep in early hours of night is very beneficial to health

Yes it is important for youths to get as much sleep as possible due to the fact the bodies are changing and this is the time that the body will be doing growing and healing...The body gets tired in youths because of this and so yes let them sleep...another good reason is you know where they are ...ha ha just kidding

If I sleep less than 7 & a half hours I feel tired the next day.
Sleep is necessary (I think 5 days without it & you die) but I think your question was more about whether a youth lying in bed for 14 hours a day would be wasting time more productively spend elsewhere, to which I would say... probably, yes.
