Have just had a flying visit into the nearest large town to where I live, which is Nottingham by the way, and joy of joys there is not One but Two new pound shops opened up. I was in heaven I just love wandering around these types of shops you never know what bargins you will find. I have found top branded cosmetics and many other things in the recent past. I think you have something similar in the States don't you. Would love to know what sort of things you find in them

Glad I read your first response, because I was thinking to myself what in the world is a pound shop. But duhhh! That makes absolute sense now! Pound Shop equals our dollar stores. Yes, I Love dollar stores, though I always tend to buy more than I went in to get.

I am so sorry but I did reply to this ages ago but it is not showing up so here it is again
Yes I think they are called dollar stores over there, I try not to get carried away in there otherwise you spend a lot more than you intended

We have had a huge influx of $2 asian shops and many consumer import shops in Auckland, New Zealand as well, with too many mini malls being set up. Good bargains though, but too many items, little alone shops. But many NZ's either still shop at the large department stores, or online at NZ most popular site trademe a bit like ebay)...

Ebay here in the UK is not as good as it was awhile back. Too many people out to con the buying public you really have to have your witts about you, but I still buy there as not everyone is out to deceive.

When you say pound shop I think your comparing it to what we call the dollar store, or the loony store. I, too, love this kind of store. Everything in the store is one dollar or less. I go to this type of store before I go to any other kind of store when I'm looking for something in paticular.I also go before I go grocery shopping because they carry a lot of groceries, too. Or house hold items like saran wrap or tin foil, or dish soap. I go there to buy my candles, kitchen utensils like can opener or ladels. I sometimes buy makeup or nail polish. These store have all kinds of things in it.

Yes I think they are like your $ stores. Everything in them is £1. I also go to them when I get the chance but as they are located in larger towns we do not have any very close to home, just Tesco and Asda which dominate our small market town.
They carry such a wide variety of stock and you never know what you are going to find. If you see something you have to buy it because if you don't and go back it is sold out.
