If you want mostly hits for your blog, you can start commenting on the other blogs with similar theme as yours and this way you will get the desired results and if you are seriously looking for other traffic try using the social networking sites like stumbleupon, mybloglog, digg, etc.

I get a fair amount of traffic for my blogs by commenting on other blogs. But you have to have something of value to add or you'll just be considered a spammer. Join Blog Catalog and MyBlogLog. Both of them bring your blog to the attention of other bloggers, and Blog Catalog has discussion groups, which also help get you noticed. Join Stumbleupon. You can put your blog in your profile and also add it to the list of sites you like. If you participate on forums, put your blog URL if that's allowed. On every site where you have a profile, be sure to add your blog. It all takes time, and as you go along, you'll find more ways to promote your blog without being obnoxious.

Hello Lilyofthethorns....thanks for starting this discussion. i learned a lot too LOL and one more way to put your blog on the traffic sites is to 'ping' them....just go to this site http://pingomatic.com/ whenever you make chages on your blog you ping it so the search engines pick it up...once a week will do..hope this was helpful.......

Also, don't forget to add your blog as a link in your mylot profile (I can't see one there - considering you have had over a 1300 views). And perhaps in your html sortie container - like what I have done with my profile...

Hi, The following strategies has worked well for me: (1) Participate in forums and leave your blog url. Try to be positive. Do not just promote your blog. (2) Leave constructive comments in good blogs with hundreds of visitors, like ProBlogger.net, JohnChow.com or BloggingTips.com. Once again do not spam, be positive. (3) You can use blog traffic widgets like BlogRush (4) Use social media networking sites. Recently, I found a good source of traffic from BloggingZoom.com. Have a good title and write a little attractive description and post in BZ. (5) Read other blogs. Write a few words about one of their posts on your blog and try to have a cross-blog conversation. It might help, the other blogger may appreciate your link love and respond to you. (6) Subscribe to a good statistics package (there are many FREE ones) and analyze where you get traffic from. That might help you to explore those sources further. (7) Use keywords suggestion tool like HitTail, that will suggest you topics to write to improve search engine traffic. (It is free too).
