Do you really care about politics?

I normally watch the news and read the papers, and also I listen to the news on the radio, so i can say that i am reasonably informed about what happens around me.
However, I sometimes wonder if all that politicians say, if politics in general, are as related to what i see in every day life or not. Sometimes i have the impression that politicians live in a different universe, because our daily reality is completely opposed to all they say.
That makes me wonder if people really care about politics and politicians...Do you care about politics and politicians? Do you follow the political news or just pass?

I hate politics, but then again it's extremely important, so I do keep up with it by watching the news and what not. Honestly, things were so much more simple back in the King and Queen days :).

Hello LightninStrike,
I'm sure this will come as a huge surprise -- uh yes, very deeply in fact. I come from what could be deemed a military family. Meaning that most of the men in my life, past & present, have served in the armed forces. They put their lives on the line, in defense of the freedoms that I enjoy. So, I figure ... being politically active is the least I can do to honor their service.
What many would call scoundrels, i.e. politicians, have the power to affect most aspects of our lives. Their propensity to spend affects our pocketbooks. Their propensity to legislate with tunnel vision affects our liberties. Their propensity to deceive affects our perception or faith in our fellow human beings.
Fortunately, in many corners of the globe, they have one gigantic Achilles heel: the power of The People to perpetuate or terminate their power base. Choosing not to decide is still a choice. Choosing to turn a blind eye to corruption is still an action taken. I figure I'm more help to The People by remaining informed, involved, & vigilant, than by letting somebody else tackle the tough issues.
Each time a politician takes action, they are doing so with a tiny bit of my mandate. I don't give my personal power away lightly. So, I choose to make sure that my voice is heard before they trounce all over my personal mandate.
Collecting baseball cards would most certainly be less aggravating (chuckle, chuckle). Yet, we all have our individual hobbies. One of mine just happens to be participation in, and monitoring of the political world.

I am not surprised at all, ladyluna, in fact, I am interested in politics as well, no matter if politicians make me angry at times. Both my parents also are very political, so it's been easy for me. Thank you a lot for replying, and i admire your implication with all these things. thank you for replying.

as with any other job, there are all kinds of politicians. I don't think they're all mean and selfish and corrupt, but neither that they're all cool and kind. glad you replied lifeless, thank you.

I don't care about politics but I also make sure that I know what is happening in my country by following the news and sometimes engaging in debates with my siblings and father(a form of mental exercise for my family). Though, I may have my opinion on different politicians but I never let it affect me. Needless to say, no matter how I stay unaffected, but my country's fiscal health is greatly affected by politics and the decisions made by politicians.

Hi LightninStrike! I am quite informed about politics here in our country and to a certain level about world politics too. I do believe that the laws and bills they pass or debated upon do affect our daily lives. I sometimes watched them debate and argue about things that transpire in the senate and congress, and there are a lot of things too that i think are not worth the time and effort such for example investigations of corrupt officials because most of the time it is just being whitewashed. I do try to be informed but sometimes it is frustrating that to see that the real problem of our country is not really being addressed and if they do, the solution is only in papers that are signed, properly documented but not truly implemented. Just my thoughts. take care and have a nice day. :)

It's cool that you're informed about what goes on in your country and it's politics, it's like a self duty for me. I also agree that sometimes it is frustrating, but still i think that it's better to be informed rather than not knowing anything at all. thanks for replying.

they say that politics appeals more to men. they say that politics is closely related or all about power which deeply interest and attracts men. since i am a man, i see politics interesting. i love watching debates, political issues, and campaign updates. besides, we will be affected by politics whether we like it or not. since that is the case, then i think it will be of help and beneficial to pay attention to and care about politics. we cannot simply let the politicians reign over us. precisely they are there in their positions, it is because of us.

Nothing could bore me more than politics. I just cannot find it interesting in any way. i know I should pay attention, so I can vote well, but when ever I listen or read about government and politics, it just goes in one ear and out the other. :/

Well you're right in the fact that politicians get busy fighting against each other most of the time. But the fact is that politics don't bore me because I cannot get bored at something that is so crucial for all the people and our future. Anyway, I understand how you feel, and i know many many people who agree with you. Thank you for replying.

Hi,there! I care about politics but I don't wanna be involved in it. Because there are many things that we can't decide or control.I'm not too interested in it but I'd like to keep myself updated.I do read newspapers and watch news to see what's going on in this world. But I don't wanna talk too much about politics and politicians usually. Actually I also think it's hard to tell which one is correct and what's absolutely right. Have a nice day!

hello! it is good to be equipped with information relating to the happenings around us which include,of course, politics.i think politics is the right forum for mixing with people and doing something thing good for the nation.but now a days, you just see, the politicians are playing foul games to accumulate wealth.they say many things, they promise in meetings or broad cast through radios or television to do many things but, soon, they forget to implement.so what is the meaning of such announcements, just imagine. care about politics and politicians? me? i find politics a dirty game playing by the politicians and making us fool.they feel themselves to be the stars of politics like stars of the movies or stars of some games.like those politicians,i just hear political news and soon forget.
