unfortunatly in this world, there are some sick minded people, and as a parent, it is the responsibility to care for and protect their children from the harsh realities that this world has to offer, but personally I do not put pictures of my kids on the web, as you never know who is on the other end of the computer.

I personally do not post pictures of my children online or any personal information about them either. I know that a lot of people do and that is fine, it's just that I don't feel comfortable with it. My main reasoning is that you never know who is online and there are a lot of sick people out there.
I belong to a number of forums where I really trust the memebers and feel comfortable, but I also know that people are not always the same as they appear to be online. I have no problem with people that choose to do so, but it's just not something that I do.

I don't mind so much. I do know theres wierdos out there. I also belong to a pregnancy/parenting forum and several women have had thier pictures "stolen" and used on other sites by strangers saying it was their kid. Some people are just desperate.

I personally wouldn't do it. Too many evil people out there, and of course, this being the internet, you don't know who you can trust. Many people on there are still strangers to you, after all.

If you don't feel happy about it, you don't have to. Many people do and I, personally, don't see any harm in putting pictures of faces on for people to see. Different people have different feelings about this, of course. The important thing is not to feel pressured to do so.
You might want to analyse your fear. How real or likely is the thing you're afraid of? I don't mean that by analysing it, you should convince yourself that you are 'being silly' or 'over-protective'. You are not. It's merely that it's always a good thing to know why we feel the way we do.
