I'd probably give them an 8. Back in that time when they were starting out and every band was following Korn System started to develop their own style probably because of all the influences Serj and Daron took it. They had a lot of metal elements but they weren't afraid to blend thing such as a waltz beat into their song. When they covered Sabbath Daron even described it as Sabbath meets James Brown or something like that. I think a lot of the bands coming out at that time were afraid of trying new things and just followed Korn. Since Korn started that whole trend I respect them since they didn't follow any, like System basically.

I have to agree with this, though I think I'd rate them a little lower because they hopped onto the government-and-war-bashing bandwagon that EVERY other popular rock band was on. Seriously, it's getting old.

I'd say at least an 8. Every band is influenced by the music they enjoy listening to themselves. One of the reasons I like System of a Down so much is because of their originality and unique sound. I think that they are one of the best bands these days, and have been for a few years.

I'd give them as a group about an eight, Serj solo about a nine~ish. Love them both, but Serj really gets me with that sound of his. O_o;
System was always a good thing. Still a good thing. They had their own sound, and weren't ashamed of it. Always got a message across, whether it was buried in the lyrics or right in your face.
Originality: 8-9-10~ish. -lol-
Straight-up music: Over 9000.
-Thumbs up-
-Serj grin-
Keep on ROCKIN'.
