I'm back after a few weeks with no computer, it decided to fry the motherboard and cpu, the technician said "it was from lightning" - (well no lightning at time) - he said - "no zap catcher" - (it was plugged into a very expensive one at time). I'm still at a loss to understand why a 3yr old computer would suddenly die like that. So now I had to decide wether to buy a new one or just replace parts, at 60yrs old this was like 'should I have implants' All I know is that I want a computer to do my PTR sites and banking and a few auctions on 'Trademe'. The parts were going to cost as much as buying a new computer so decided I may as well buy a new one, now the delema again which type to buy, how big a hard drive etc etc, if only I had google to search for this information. Finally I have a new computer and I love it and the hard drive is so tiny it fits into a very tiny space I my large computer table, so now it looks like the next item to ponder over is a new table, but what size, what colour, what.........???
So do you love them or hate them? - that is the question.

I absolutely love my computer. The only times I hate it is if it does not work the way I want, hardware malfunction or something that takes a long time to repair by the support tech. I find it rather difficult to live without my computer as it's the only means of communicating with some of my friends and I'm too used to working on a computer that I would not get any project of mine done if I had to go back to the old ways and use a pen and paper. So for me the computer is by far my most favourite modern invention that I would have a really hard time learning how to live without.

If your computer has last you 3 years, it is quite decent already. Most computers die after 3-5 years.
Mine shows dying symptoms just after a few months. Hint: Do NOT buy Compaq computers. They are the worst brand around.
Oh well, I love computers and I hate them too (when they are not behaving). :P

Thanks for your comments.
I didn't buy that brand because I had heard the same.
It's a shame because when you pay out so much money you expect your computer to last for many years, but I have noticed that a lot of electrical equipment does not last for very long at all, shame they just don't lower the cost of things if they aren't going to last for long.

I love my computer and I would miss it if I didn't have it anymore. However there are 4 of them in this house so I would likely use one of them. It is am important part of my day being on the computer and I recently bought a new computer desk for it.

Hi,there! I think it's really hard to deicide to love the computers or not. It's obvious that because of them, our life is becoming more and more convenient. It enables us to do many things that we've never imagined before:) So I would say I like them. On the other side,it also causes problems. When the viruses attack them,I really hate them. Many files got lost and I sometimes have to reinstall the system.I enjoy choosing some new equipments for the computer cause it makes me feel happy and more comfortable when I use it:) Thanks for the discussion and have a nice day!

I know, but I'm sure you have days when things just don't go right and it's a real love/hate relationship, you love your computer when it's behaving but hate it when its not, we are really sucked in big time and now for me at least I wouldn't know what to do without it and visiting mylot.

Of course I do love my computer. Like you, I have many transactions that I do with my computer and I always open it everyday. So if my computer got broken, I would feel really sad about it.

I am glad to have my new computer up and running again, it was really annoying to have to use other peoples and have to go to town to do banking and paying bills etc. Hope your computer doesn't pack a sad like mine did. I made sure that I did my back up discs before I did anything else. Thanks for your response.

I like them. It's been a major source of income of me so I have something to work on. I'm just someone who uses them mainly for making money anymore. That's what I pretty much do. For me, if I didn't have that, that'd be zapping away the majority of my income and I'd be S.O.L. since nobody is hiring around my area and if they are, you get laid off frequently.

Thanks for your comment. I have worked in offices all my life and have seen a lot of different technology come and go and now they are a necessity of life. I worked the night of 1999/2000 where we were the first to see the dawn of a new era and nobody knew what to expect as all our computers were programmed to '1999' the rest we now know is history but it was a very scary time. I do wonder though what would our world be without the computer and do we rely too much on them now.

Of course I love computers. It is now a part of me. Those where the days when computers are only a future dream, but look at now, everybody has his own computer and this mylot thing started with these computers. Many will however forget to jog, to exercise once theyve settled in front of their computers.

Whether I like computers or not solely depends on whether they're working at the moment or not lol. Right now I love my laptop, but two weeks ago....well that's a different story (had to buy a new one, the old one kept crashing). It's all well now though.

Oh I love my computer, I could not live without it, I stress out even for an hour when my server goes down, personally I think when too many things start going wrong it is better to get a new one, I have a friend who is my computer tech and he doesn't really let things get too old before he advises me to upgrade...good luck to you what ever you decide...

It is nice to know that you have bought a brand new computer and I understand your excitement over it. Normally we don’t bother much about the computer table but the computer itself is more essential. You can look for ideal computer table later on during your leisure time.
Surfing net is part of my daily routine and I couldn’t live without my computer even for a single day. Earlier I had a clumsy huge monitor and cpu which I had used for about seven years. I had replaced them with a LCD monitor and a handier CPU. I am quite satisfied with my new set of serving equipment.

Yeah, I love my PC, even if it's now 6 years old and my graphic card is dying... I need it to talk with my friends who live in another cities, and to write programms for my studies. I also need my daily portion of Internet =]

Oh, I love my computer. I didn't have one for about 6 months, when I was in the process of moving from one province to another, and I was totally lost with out it. I borrowed other peoples computer, at their house, but it wasn't the same as having my own. I now have my own set up again and it's so nice. I can go on it when ever I want to. I don't have to phone someone and ask if I can use theirs for a couple hours. I was so limited. It's kind of like not having a car. Stuck at home with no way of going anywhere.

Thanks for your great comment. I had to go borrow my girlfriends laptop to do my emails and banking etc, a real pain as it feels really strange to find your way around someone elses computer, they really are quite personal.
Great to see you have a new computer as well.
