Who are you inviting to your Christmas Meal?

My husband talked the other day about which family members to invite this year. As hubbys family is very big we can't invite everyone. Anyway, my sister-in-law has invited a lot of the family to her house for christmas lunch, but we can't go. It's the same reason every year. Changeover for my step children is at 3.00pm, & so any invite that is more than one hours drive away is not practical.
As we have my step children in the afternoon & night, our Christmas meal is for tea. My parents have been invited, plus my brother, his wife & two kids. We did invite another sister of my husbands, but they can't come.

Good comment, Bob, considering the brevity of the above response.
You can come to our place for Christmas tea, seeing as how most our invited rellies say they can't come!

As we have for the past few years we will be having my daughter her hubby and the 2 grandsons spending the 24th at our house. Then our son will show up early Christmass morning. And dad. That's all for now. Well maybe a family friend, my daughters High School buddy that will be here from England might drop by. That would be nice. Thats it. Sounds busy for you.

We have not talked about the meal due to not knowing if Debbie would be home or in Michigan for the holiday. But I want Rock Cornish Game Hens this year. Those are so good and not gamey tasting. They are small birds like chicken but smaller. One hen is plenty for an adult to eat. Cooked like a turkey as well but not stuffed.

I go to my dads for Christmas dinner and have every year of my life, when I have a family maybe I'll start cooking the meal and invite him for dinner for a change.
I would like to cook my own Christmas meal as the shop up the road from me does a salmon roast and I'd like to try it one year instead of Turkey.

As far as I can see from the box it comes in it's a really big piece of Salmon with nut stuffing and pieces of lemon, it looks nice.

All my family lives 2000 kilometers away so I can't see them during christmas, but the children and I have a nice meal on Christmas eve together and it is nice to be together. I used to feel sad when I would see the neighbors yards either be filled with cars for people coming to celebrate or other neighbors leaving for the day to be with their families as none of mine were here. But now the kids are older and my family so it is really nice to spend it with them.

As a Child, we would have relatives travel nearly 2000 kms for Chrisatmas.ut it became too much for them.
It will be just as nice for you & the kids to have a lovely meal together.

My husband and I are almost married 3 years. And for the last 4 years we have had his mother for christmas dinner and for new years dinner too. This year because my husband has 10 brothers and sisters I have put my foot down and asked the rest of his family to fight it out among themselves about who is going to take her this year. As it is we have her every sunday for dinner. I need a break. Last year I was very annoyed and upset with my inlaws, because it was the first christmas and new years without my own mother. Not one of them considered my feelings in the matter. I know it sounds selfish but we just want a family christmas together with our own kids this year. But knowing his family I am sure she will be having dinner with us again this year. I dont have the heart to leave her on her own at christmas....

I understand where you are coming from completely. My husband comes from a family of six kids & there are always hassles as to who is hosting a christmas meal & who isn't. Oddly enough, it is always the SAME people every year (like us) who do a christmas meal/party & the SAME people every year who NEVER invite people to their home. They just eat enormous quantities of everyone elses food.

I hear ya!!! I have just found out too that everybody else has made plans for christmas this year, and they dont include their mother!! All I can say is that I hope my inlaws kids treat their parents a lot better than they are treating their own mother. :-)

We won't have any company this year for the holidays. I prefer to not have company, as its to stressful. Its better to visit other family members when everyone isn't having to travel during the times when everyone else is on the road. This area has many traffic jams, which means a lot of fender benders or totaled cars.

This is true. Travelling on very busy roads on Christmas Day is quite stressful.

Christmas Eve my son and his fiance and my mother are going to be at my apartment for a late dinner and Christmas day everyone is going to my mothers apartment for dinner. We're doing the same thing I did for Thanksgiving and buying a Ham dinner already cooked. This will be the first time in about 19 years that almost my whole family will be together for Christmas and I'm looking forward to it.

Hi jennybianca! every year it is always the same, we go to my grandmother's house on the 24th of December for Christmas eve dinner. All of my family are all there, cousins, aunts, nieces, etc. And on the 25th of December, my husband and i have dinner with his family. It is like that every year. Take care and have a nice day. :)

That is difficult for you, having your mums christmas party & your Dads birthday on the same day. Find out what time your mums christmas party is, so you can go to that. Have your Dads birthday party earlier or later.
