I am wondering on how many people have a prefernce on the milk that they drink? this is a constant argument in my house hold... I dont have a prefernce i will drink 2 % or whole milk store brand hood garlieck etc... My daughter will drink whichever we put in front of her and my husband will only touch whole milk... he will not go with in 5 feet from a glass of anything less. I think that 2% and whole milk dont really have a difference in flavor/ taste... do you? now i know 1% and skim milk do and i think that they are a bit on the nasty side..taste wise. But if it was all that i had i wouldnt take a cup of it or mix it with choclate syrup oir anythoing but i would use it for mashed potatoes or baking or what not... no problem.. my husband on the other hand will not even attempt to try the mashed potaotes knowing there is something less then whole milk... the thing is ok a cup i can see where he would be able to "taste: the difference but i have put 2% in his potaotes numerous times and he hasnt even known..
is it a big deal in your household? are you bringing home different gallons of milk? whcih is your prefernce?

It's been a long time since I've had cow's milk but I don't think soy milk really tastes like dairy. It's hard to explain the flavor. I prefer the vanilla variety over plain. Soy milk is a bit thicker than rice milk so I guess it's like comparing 2% with skim milk.

I have the same issue my honey only likes Whole milk which is thee most fattening. Sure it tastes great but 2% suits me just fine. I don't have the money to buy 2 gallons and I couldn't drink the whole think so I just end up drinking theres and getting fat lol. Chocolate milk oh my gosh that stuff is delicious whatever kind it is:)

Personally I can't stand milk, but I should own a cow or two with the amount of milk my kids and hubby drink. Hubby would buy skim milk, I would by 2% for the kids. Got tired of the room it took up in the fridge, so now they compromise. I buy 1% and they are all happy.

lol... i agree with the purchase of cow idea.. we g through a lot of milk here.. my mothers house goes through 2 gallons of milk a day on a slow day!! LOL i could settle with the whole for my hubby to save on buying milk, but i prefer 2%.. he wont drink anything liess then whole milk so if i tried to comprimise.. id still end up buying whole milk.. thank you for your response

I/ used to use only skim milk. My new husband refused to use it. So now I buy whole milk. I just rarely eat cereal anymore because of it. Whole milk messes up my digestive system. I cant afford to buy 2 different kinds so I just go without.

I have the same problem with whole milk. I can't drink it without it bothering me. When I was 14 I had a Dr. tell me that if I had to drink milk that I'd do better with either goat milk or at the most 2% cow milk. Less fat the better. I can't stand the taste of 1% (although my husband tells me that there's no difference in the way they process it really)or skim. I don't mind goat's milk as long as it's straight from the goat or in actual carton/liquid form. No canned.
Normally though we usually just have 2% cow's milk. I don't like most other types of milk and they don't usually have the vitamin D that animal milks do so I just don't see the point.Luckily my husband's not picky as long as it's not skim.

I have this argument with my other half too. I grew up drinking 2% and didn't think much of it. Then when I was on my own I drank 2%. Then in enters hubby who won't touch the stuff unless it is whole milk. Luckily he rarely drinks milk unless it has chocolate in it. I am trying to lose weight so I don't want to go to a higher fat content and would prefer skim just for that reason. Hubby on the other hand says to make skim they take all the good that there is out of it. He also questions why we humans drink the milk of another animal such as cows. I don't think we will ever see eye to eye on the milk issue but I try not to hold it against him...

LOL your hubby sounds like my hubby.. My husband could drink a gallon of milk a day! he will take the biggest tallest fattest glass we have fill it to the tip with milk add some strawberry syrup, then take one of my cake mixing bowls dump half a box of his favorite cereal in it and then a half gallon of milk.. LOL he is crazy!

With the price of milk, I might not be drinking ANY type soon! LOL. I was raised on whole milk. (what little I drank, I hated it as a child and teen!) I didn't really begin to use or drink milk until my 30's! I even ate cereal dry! I now drink only skim milk due to watching my fats/calories and weight. Luckily for me, my husband prefers skim too. My children were given whole milk until age 2 and then we switched them to skim.
