For years I have considered the idea of becoming a Minister in the Universal Life Church. I am a Buddhist-Discordian-Taoist-Hindu at heart, but for years I have had a growing respect for the thread of contemplative tradition that runs through the words of the Christian Mystics. Through a random series of web searches and clicks I ended up on the church's website today, www.ulcseminary.org, and got ordained. Blessings on all MyLotters, whether they hate me now, or not. ;-)

Congratulations to you!! Wow, that really is wonderful! What do you plan to do with your knowledge now that you are ordained? Whatever you do, I'm sure you'll be awesome with it! Thank you for the blessings Reverend Travis! Take care :)

Thank you very much for your comment. I have very little idea of what I will do with this ordination yet, but rest assured I will use my powers for good. ;-) I have an inkling to start an online ministry open to all sentient beings, and accepting contributions of opinions, experiences, knowledge, and wisdom from all who maintain something akin to a civil tongue. We shall see what the future holds.

greetings Travis, I was ordained on July 5, 2008 with ULC. I am currently attending ULC seminary for my doctorate in ministry. I am a inter-faith minister that will service most any needs of anyone, except weddings as the Province I live in doesn't yet recognize ULC as a established church. I teach tolorance and understanding of universal energy and life. Really all the mumbo-jumbo aside I am a New Age practitioner (the term new age always strikes me as odd as it is based in ancient beliefs). I come from catholic roots on my moms side and protestant roots on my dads but I am pagan in practice. I am so glad to meet a fellow ULC minister on here. Blessings.

What is the Buddhist Studies like? I am most likely going to end up taking all the course eventually but right now I am taking Master of Metaphysics and Dr. of Christian Studies.

Hello, Addysum, and congratulations! I too am enrolled in the ULC Seminary. Their courses are quite good. I am currently taking the Master of Buddhist Studies course. Good times. ;-) If I have something to teach, the first would be, "Know thyself, before, and during all other concerns." The second would be the Golden Rule, "Do unto others what you would have them do unto you." The rest would be commentary. ;-) Best of luck in your ministry! Keep in touch!

The ULC is not, strictly speaking, a Christian denomination. Just an FYI. There is a strong thread of Christian influenced thinking in the ULC, but there is also a strong thread of Paganism, Druidism, Shamanism and Buddhism. The Universal Life Church is truly globally accepting.

Hi TravisE, I visited the site and must say that it is interesting. Have you made a definite decision yet? It is good to find someone with such an acceptance of others. Happy new year my friend. Blessings.

Sorry about that, I guess I didn't read carefully, I see that you are already ordained. Congratulations.

Thanks Pose123! Yeah, I am ordained. Hear me roar. ;-) I like the stance of acceptance. It reminds me that my first job is to see to the most immediate problem areas in my life, ie - me. As the Buddha said, "One cannot save the nation until one's own house is in order."
