I know many of us get sick, and some of us here are definately sicx more than others. For me, it depends on what is going on and who I am around, as to how succeptable I am I am Insulin Diabetic so I know when I get sick unless it is something minor I usually have to think about getting in and getting an Antibiotic to keep me from getting any sicker. I work with someone from work that the minute anything starts happening with me, even if it seems like something minor, she is always telling me to get to a Doctor. And then if I don't she is like No Wonder you hurt, etc. You should go see a Doctor. But what I am refering too, is the people that are especially on Good Medical where it costs them practically nothing to go to a Doctor or the Emergency room, who seem to go to the Doctor or Emergency room for even the slightest thing making it seem like something Big. Are you, or do you know someone like this, or do they have to force you to get yourself to a Doctor because you have been sick for like 3-4 weeks? Just curious, as in todays day and age with Medical especially here in the US, being so bad, how often people really get to a Doctor.

Medical here in the Philippines is also costly. People tend to delay visits until their condition becomes really worse. I for one don't like visiting the doctor unless the condition is keeping me from doing what I normally do. I easily get sick but I refuse to go since I've had a bunch of bad experiences with doctors. Most of the time, they charge an awfully lot and fail to give a proper diagnosis and prescription. It's a good thing I know a thing or 2 about common ailments since I graduated from an allied medical course and thus not needing to visit the doctor with the slightest of symptoms.

I hate going to the doctor. However, I have some major medical problems that I have to go to the Doctor. My body does not deal well when I get sick.

we have good insurance if I can still walk and eat , no matter how painful something is, I usually wait a week or so, then if it isn't healed, I will go to the emergency room, if its very painful, or at least make a doctor appointment

I thank the good Lord that I very seldom get even a cold. I count my blessings where this is concerned. And up until the recent year or so I went for a annual physical. But I haven't made it in a bit. I do have health insurance, but it isn't the best. Co-pay's are at least $20.

I rarely go to the doctor. I hate going. Most of all, it's my fear of needles. Every time I go, they want to draw blood and as a result, I am terrified to go. I don't go for the sniffles or for sinus problems. I can medicate those with OTC meds and things like that. I will go if my blood pressure goes up unexplained or if I'm seriously ill or broke a bone. But I'm not going to the ER because I had a hangnail.

My kids and I get free health insurance because of how much money we make as a household. But I won't go to the doctor unless i really think something is wrong. Or the school makes me... My son has gone to the doctor three times in the past 2-3 years. One was for a required school check-up. One was because the school wouldn't allow him to go because he had some sort of weird rash and they were concerned it might be contagious. The other time was because he was running a fever and was complaining that his ears hurt really bad and he never complains about that kind of thing. So I took him and he was diagnosed with a double ear infection. He was prescribed antibiotics...but from what i have experienced from them they don't always work. So I got something from the health food store and used that instead. Never had to get the prescription because it healed up with the homeopathic stuff!! My daughter also had an ear infection but I did get antibiotics for her because hers seemed REALLY bad. Other than that she has only gone for well child checkups which actually only make her sick because of all the sickness going around at the offices. So I avoid those now unless they are required for something. I only go to the doc now because I am preggo. If I wasn't you would never find me there! I hate doctors and I really hate doctors who are prescription-happy. Besides, where I live every doctors office is so full of people that they never really have time to check you out. I won't go unless I know I am really getting the attention I feel I need.

I hardly ever go to the Doctor. I avoid it whenever possible. If I have a virus there is no point in visiting a Doctor, as viruses can't be cured with any medication in particular. I rarely need antibiotics. When I broke my foot & tore a ligament two years ago at the supermarket, I drive myself home. Two days later I drove myself to hospital. I came home with plaster on my leg.

Nope, not me. I usually self-diagnose and self-medicate. I hate doctors. Maybe if we become a welfare state and medical is free, I may "visit" them. :P

i don't get sick very often, but when i do i usually don't go to a doctor. earlier this year i was sick with strep throat so, of course, i went to the doctor for that .. but before that it had been years since i had even been to one for a check up! possibly even a decade.

well i very very rarely go to the doctor. for two reasons. first and foremost is that i have no medical insurance at all. second is that i am one of those ppl that will wait to see a doctor until i am in the ER..and then i usually have to be taken by someone. lol the last time i went to the ER, id had a fever of 103 for about 4 days, was fighting a UTI that was moving into my kidneys. my boyfriend at the time finally got mad at my refusal to see a doctor and physically picked my up, shoved me in the car and carried me into the ER. of course while i grumbled and moaned, but eventually was put on IV with antibiotics lol!
