Okay, I was at a relatives house yesteray and they were watching one of those news channels on the satallite. The whole thing was about the Republicans and the Democrats and whatever.
Well, one of my relatives said, "I hope the n*gg*r doesn't win. I bet you he'd cut off the heads of anyone who wasn't black. It would also be against the law to worship Jesus."
This person also went on about how the Democrats lie all the time and blah, blah, blah. This person thinks the whole Republican party are saints! (most of the family votes Republican without even knowing about the candidate's views on the issues that are important. As long as a Democrat doesn't win, they are happy.
I mean, come on! I couldn't believe this person said that, especially since we have blood relatives who are black! Seriously, what do you think about people like this?

A wise man once said something to the effect of "the best argument against democracy is the average voter". It's getting to a point in this country where people don't even care about the issues - it's all about posturing, who has the most dirt on them, and who their favorite talk show host likes more. For example, my parents tend to go with whoever Sean Hannity thinks is a good pick. They're sheep following a herd of sheep that doesn't know how to think for itself.
It also doesn't help that most Americans have forgotten that there exist more than two parties. It doesn't have to be Republican/Democrat - we just choose to make it that way. Now because of that, people vote for unqualified candidates, or don't vote at all because they didn't like the choices.
Personally, I can't stand people like that. If you don't have the brainpower to research the issues and pick the best candidate based on that, then just don't vote. We don't need idiots to vote because the chances are they're just going to elect an even bigger idiot. Case in point, the trigger happy man we currently have living in the White House.

Exactly! There are what, 25 political parties or something like that? This relative I was talking to earlier said that the other parties will never be nominated because they are not rich. I disagreed in my mind that it is because they don't get the media coverage like the Republicans and Democrats do. I think more people from other parties should start running for offices and make people see that there are more than just 3 parties (I included Independant in that one, since there was an election race in my state with one of them last year).

It's both funny and sad at the same time. But there are people on both sides of the aisle like that. I stay away from closed minded people personally. But it's hard with family. I got a couple of relatives who I wish we had a mute button for at family gatherings because there is no having an intelligent conversation with them. They just spout stupidity and somehow it makes sense in their own minds ;)
I have a great uncle like that... I just have to respect him because he's still alive and made it through a lot of stuff. His beliefs just stem from a different era in American History... so I guess I can't take issue with him too much.

I think people who are like this are not satisfied with themselves and their own lives, so they blame others for their missfortune. To these people, eveything is someone else's fault - they don't have a job so as far as they're concerned it's the black guy's fault for taking all the jobs.
The irony and the shameful truth is that we whites brought the black people to our countries, we whites 'cut off their heads', we forces religion on them. Nothing can ever be blamed on anyone but us whites.
What's also ironic is that Obama is the least stereotypical black person in the US, he appeals to many many people's values, whether black or white, inside the US and across the world. It's a shame people can't get passed the colour of his skin. And, without trying to offend people, as a generalisation it tends to be the older generations that feel this way. I'm pleased that most of my generation like yourself, don't use colour as a deciding factor when judging people.

Not being an American, I cannot vouch for the veracity of Mr. Obama, but in many cases, the Black candidates in a political party have favored those of their own color, the same that most women candidates have been feminists who favor abortion, and most women working out the home, and limited children and that women who stay at home are not 'fulfilling their duty,' So I think with what has gone before, your relative was a bit uneasy. I would favor the Republicans as I am a bit right wing and the Democratic party, left wing of center and I do not trust Hillary. She would be more dangerous than the African American Candidate. Him, I would not be sure of because of his lack of experience in American politics.
I would have to see the moral view of the candidates, and if American, I would vote the best Republican candidate that has a strong moral view. As for the Democrats, even if one had a strong moral view, I would be wary because he would be overwhelmed by his party's general philosophy.

What I think about people like that is they should certainly not have the privilege of voting! I can't believe someone would actually say something like that in this day and age. Trust me, there are no saints in either party but some Republicans really think they are but they're really big hypocrits. Please, I'm not saying only Republicans are hypocrits but some of the recent ones that come to mind have been Republicans and have been famous for being against what it turned out to have been their own secret lifestyles. Maybe you could trick your relative into thinking the election is the day AFTER it actually is...

LMAO that's actually a good idea! Imagine them going to the polls the day after and finding out it was the day before haha! That would be totally hilarious wouldn't it? That would also be a good way to keep those types of people from voting. I agree, they shouldn't have the privelage to vote.
