is submission of your blog to any search directory can contribute to your blog traffic?
or you have to consider the PR of the directory? i have read an article that linking to sites with low PR is not beneficial and would not contribute to increase your PR?

I don't know yet. Submission to search engines does help, but not much. It is better to optimize your blog or site to that level that people who will be searching stuff will find you in the first page of searches in search engines. For this you have to read a little bit about SEO (Search Engines Optimization).

I agree with you. It is a lot easier to promote it in forums. Getting to the first page of search engines is very hard. Especially if you write about something which is widely spread, but if you write about something that is not common used you can be on first page in no time.

Another thought I have, is because millions are signed up with social network sites, photo share/purchase sites, and forums with thousands of blogs, there may be a much lessor need for people to bother searching directories or even through standard search methods. You can easily search your network sites and forums - which in a sense can be classified as a massive directory of nearly everything - blogs, videos, chat, links, photo's, profiles, etc. I certainly have found plenty of good blogs within mylot and others, such as myspace...
