Yesterday I had to go to a doctor because my surgeon wanted me to see him before my surgery. I waited in the office for 3 hours then I went up to the receptionist and said Im going to reschedule Im tried of waiting. I said is it always like this and she said yes. You have to get here at 8:00 and be the first one and you wont have to wait. I never heard of anything like that. So now I must re schedule another appointment. Have you ever had to wait that long to see a doctor?

I would find this to be totally unacceptable. I would make sure they knew that, too. I wouldn't cause a scene but I would say something, for sure. Obviously this doctor over books his appointments. There would be no way he could be that far behind. If she tells you to be there at 8:oo why would you need to have an appointment?
I have never waited more than half an hour to see my doctor. What kind of surgery do you need, my friend? Hope it is nothing serious.

Good luck to you. I hope everything goes well. I have a lot of back and neck problems so I understand how you feel. I go to a chiropractor twice a week to fix me up, so I don;t have to have surgery.

I haven't had to wait that long, but I have had to leave because the doctor was running really late and I had to go to work. I once had to wait two hours for a surgical procedure, but that was because my surgeon had to do an emergency procedure that morning.

Hi TerryZ! There are some instances that the waiting gets really longer than i expected and usually i just return for another schedule. I am just glad now that i can always ask for an appointment over the phone and call them again if it is almost my turn, the clinic of my doctor is just 8 minutes away by car from where i live. Take care and have a nice day. :)

There is no way I would wait that long to see a Doctor that I was referred too. Sounds like that Doctor doesnt really care that his patients are waiting hours on end like that. I think the most you should have to wait is 30 mins, MAYBE an hour. I just don't understand why they schedule people every 15 mins, when they know that they CANNOT see anyone in that time. Greedy b@stards I tell ya!
When I hurt my back last year, I had to go and see my Doctor for another reason all together, but I was in so much pain! I souldn't even have driven my car really, but I couldn't put this off. They called me that morning to confirm 1pm. I got there about 10 til. I checked in with the receptionist and then tried to sit down. Pretty hard to do with a herniated disc in your back pinching every nerve in your spine. About 1:30 she calls my name, but not too call me back, to tell me that my appointmen wasn't til 3pm. I WENT OFF!!! I said "I got a call from so and so and she said on the phone with me this morning 1pm, so get me in and get me in now!!"
I'm a little cranky when the entire bottom half of my body is in excrutiaing pain.
It's a clinic with several doctors in it, the woman called security on me and the administrator came out to talk to me, that's how p!ssed off I was. LOL But I got to see the Doctor!*big grin*

Haha!
My neurosurgeon was HOT!! He was really good looking, almost too good looking. My very first chiropractor when I first hurt my back when I was 17 was fine too! My current one isn't too bad looking either. LOL Dang, come to think of it, I've been treated by some really good looking men! I guess I was just in too much pain to really care. LOL

I was waiting for about 2 hours to see my doctor while chasing a toddler around the doctors office I got so tired of that so when I call to make an appointment I tell them I want either the first appointment of the day of the first appointment right after lunch that seems to solve the problem.

Hi Terry:)
I've never had to wait that long for a doctor's appointment.
I once took my daughter to the doctor's office and the receptionist came out and told everyone they would have to leave. Everyone in the room just sat their in shocked silence for a moment and then all heck broke loose! It turned out that the doctor had just up and decided she didn't want to see anymore patients that day and had instructed the receptionist to tell us all to leave. They wouldn't even reschedule our appointments!
It was really ridiculous. I didn't even bother calling to make a new appointment, I just changed my kids doctor.
It drives me nuts that doctors think they can do junk like that.
You should send your doctor a bill for 2 1/2 hours of your time and a cancelation fee! See how he likes it.

You shouldn't have to wait no more than 20 minutes. Our clinic
wants to be informed after a 20 minute wait and they will get a different Dr to see us if we wish at that time.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Oh yes, that is not uncommon for me. A month ago I waited 3 hours and when I asked to reschedule they said I could, but they would charge me for not showing up. They counted that as not showing up. Specialists always have a long wait, but the best time to make an appointment is right when they open, and right after lunch. It's like two fresh starts.

Yea, I do know what you mean, Terry, about waiting for those doctors. Earlier this year I made an appointment with an eye doctor. It was for 10 a.m. but by 12 p.m. I was still waiting and another patient told me that she had stayed there all day yesterday without being seen and then she had to leave and return that morning.
I told her I would not do such a thing. And I went to the front desk and told the office employees that I was not going to wait any longer and to return all my paperwork to me. Then I left.
At the door the doctor asked me to please return and that he would put me first. I said no and left.
I then searched through the phone directory for another doctor and made an appointment for the following week.
When I went there I was out within an hour.

Hello dear TerryZ. The day before yesterday I went to see a doctor at a specialist clinic. I am glad to say that I did not wait long before I could see the doctor as there was only one person that I had to wait. So I was lucky not to have to wait long, but if I go to a big hospital, I would have to wait a little bit long as there are usually many patients there and to avoid waiting so long, it is better to go earlier in the morning when it is time for the doctors to come to work. It is true of what your receptionist said. Best wishes, dear friend.

I have never had to wait that long at my local doctor. I've waited about 1 1/2 and was not happy with that. Can you complain to someone like the company the doctor works for? If we go down to our local hosiptal we can be kept waiting for hours. A friend of mine has waited 6 weeks for a doctors appointment. I don't see how this can be true but then now a days you just never know do you with the way the world is changing.

I hate waiting in a Doctors office. I have had to wait that long before. I get very stressed and my blood pressure goes up.

Three hours? that is a bit too much. They should see you when you set a scheduled time to see them, give or take 15 minutes or so. I would of been upset for waiting that long!

That is way to long to have to wait. I wonder why he even schedules appointments if he isn't going to go by them. I've had to wait, but never that long. I think the longest was 1/2 hour. And, if she tells everybody what she told you about being there at 8, everybody will be there and you'll still have a long wait.

Well it depends. DId you have an appointment. Usually I find that docters are late but its usually only half an hour at the most.
We also have walk in clinics. At those sometimes you have to wait 3 hrs. I've gone to a walk in clinic... taken my number left for lunch and then came back.
