Do you pray?

I pray even though I don't believe in god. I pray without directing it to any specific god or being. When I pray, I see it as communicating to spirits, and asking them to aid people in spirit. Do you pray even if you don't believe in god?

I pray and I pray to God because there is only one God. Do your prayers get answered is the question? I really do not understand people who do not believe in God.

Toni, I believe God answers prayer. Sometimes He says yes, and sometimes He says no. And He understands our frustration with people who try to deny Christ when no one even asked their opinion! : )

There is only "one god"- that sounds wrong... The bible is a story and most Christians that I have come across are the biggest hypocrites on this earth.. Of course prayers don't get answered- your "praying" to nothing- noone is there listening... People have an insane need to have faith and belief in something higher than themselves instead of having faith in themselves and believing in themselves...People should start there instead of a made up entity..

What is wrong about it? God created the heaven and the earth. Apparently you are the one with dout in your heart. My prayers do get answered! When you pray you have to have faith in whatever you are praying to and claim it. I do not care if you do not believe in God I am not trying to convert anyone.

I do believe in God. She's a crazy woman named Eris (amongst tons of other names/genders/species). I pray twice a day, once upon waking and once just before laying down to sleep, using a method from the Vedantic tradition. I use a set of mandala beads with 108 beads. For each bead I internally say the name of God (in this tradition one of the name, the one I use, is Ramanama) focusing on sending my gratitude and love to God. I go for 10 rounds of the beads, for a total of 1080 recitations.

*smiles* I don't really have anything terribly intelligent to add...I just wanted to say; I'm glad to see someone who knows the name of Eris responding here.

I do pray, and I feel like that is an essential aid in keeping my relationship with Christ, close. I believe we can be close to the Lord, so I want to be in His will. If I don't pray, it is like ignoring my best friend. : )

It seems to me that you do believe in God somewhat if you do pray. I'm not saying this to make you angry, but there has to be something inside you that knows that God is real. Yes, I pray everyday. I pray throughout the day and at night is my time alone with God. I read His Word, the Bible, and then I get on my knees and just talk to Him. I get the most incredible peace when I do that! I let God speak to me. I know that God is in control of all things and that He is always with me. He promises to never leave me or forsake me. He keeps His promises! God bless:)

I agree with Arr. A real opinion. You've my applause. I don't agree, as you know...but I'm glad to see an opinion from you. I haven't been to alot of the discussions you've responded to, but I've only seen alot of quotations as of late. So yay for real thoughts.

prayer - The photo is an image of prayer. And the person is Jesus who I pray in the name of to Father God.
Yes, megumiart, I surely do pray and daily. I can just say one word or two and I will get help. The one word is Jesus! And the two words are help me! It is the best thing that we can do for others, don't you think?

I do believe in God, and I do pray often, several times a day in fact. But not like I get down on my hands and knees and pray. I can pray in my car, I pray while I cook, or during a crisis I am having or a tough situation happens and I need guidance. It helps.

Your situation is liken to the people of Athens when Paul visited that place. He saw people praying to an unknown God. Therefore, he preached unto them Jesus and many believed and converted to Christianity. Why pray to an unknown spirit when you can pray to the Living God. Let Jesus Christ come into that needy heart! He is the reason for this season!!!

There's nothing wrong with someone having a different belief system. Hers involves spirits, which could be from nature, ancesters, whatever. It might be specific to this user's culture.

I'll be sure to include my robes in my laundry then (my apologies if my attempt at humor is not found funny). Yes, you're perfectly allowed to believe in christianity, Sprintlady. I was simply arguing another's right to believe something else. It's their right since they have free will. You can think it's wrong, but the rest us can disagree, mmkay?

I do, but not in the church or anything. I was baptized catholic but along the way I decided to take a step away from religion. I still believe in God, but I just don't think he belongs to only one religion.

I sincerely believe in God as the maker of the heavens and the earth and I also pray to him. I just hope that I am able to make it habitual. I don't deceive myself.

I used to pray every night, but now I only tend to pray if I'm in a very bad way, or if I need help with something - I know that's not really the point, but if it helps me get through things, I'm all for it! Mind you, I do believe in God, I just never get the chance to go to church, any more.

I guess, we all need to believe in someone or something. Like whether you're agnostic or an atheist, the fact that you believe in something whether you claim its not religion or there's no God, the thing is everyone seems to communicate with a higher or superior being. In star wars, they call it the FORCE. So, if you're wondering if I pray, I do. I believe in something that is more spiritual than any prescribed religion. :P FAITH.
