Today my dog got shot with a paintball gun in the checst by my soon to be neighbors.I was so angry I was speachless. Then I calmed myself down enough to call the police. Not to any surprise it seemed like the officer didnt want us to press charges because of the paper work.I informed him that I just wanted it documented so these crazy people couldnt call a few hours later and make up something.Yes Im paranoid. These people have accused us of so much bull in the past its just crazy.I decided I would not press charges unless she ended up hurt.Because she seemed fine tonight I feel like everything will be fine. Now Im thinking I may have made the wrong choice because the more I think about it the more angry I get about all of it.What would you do?

I would try to be calm and call the police just like you did. Its not easy though, and i cant pretend that i am sure i wouldnt be furious and hurt someone :). My pets are parts of my family whoever hurts them is like hurting me. I think i would press charges against them.

I think you did the right thing; not getting mad and yelling, and calling the police. I would have probably screamed and yelled at them. If you have been having many problems with this neighbor, i might suggest moving, if it's possible.

I would be so angry and both your neighbors and that officer. You should either go to the station or call for another officer to take the report. That is cruel what they did to your dog. Where are the parents? Did you speak to them, or are they adults that are doing this?
This make me so mad to hear this.

I think that you did the right thing. I would suggest maybe putting up a fence in order to keep them out and your dogs in. I would defiantly be concerned because what if that had been a child that they "accidentlty" harmed. If the incidents continue to happen i would def. seek help from outside sources and press charges.

You should have pressed charges against them. Many people abuse other people nowadays because there are those who just let things be. I mean, until you whack the head of these guys, they won't stop and learn. And even if they stop, they still need plenty of more beatings before learning. Know your rights.

You should stay this calm. Of course, if it happens again, then tell the police. It is a form of animal cruelty. If the police don't want to hear, find the nearest RSPCA and tell them. They will go to the police and tell them and the whole thing should be documented.

Ever been hit with a paintball??....They HURT! I would be calling the ASAP or any Animal Protection agency in your area and reporting them. The Police might not do anything but the Animal Protection Agency will charge them with Animal Cruelty. If you only have the Police I would be pushing the issue and Pressing Charges, this would be the civil way to deal with them. Your other option with these kind of people would be just keep calm and quiet and get EVEN later.

If I were you, I'd call the police upon seeing my precious little dog treated like that. That's absolutely unacceptable! I'd file that complaint without thinking twice considering that they've caused you trouble prior to that incident. They should be made to pay for the vet's bill since you can never really tell how much damaged the shot caused unless you get him checked. The more you tolerate your neighbors' faults, the more they'll try pushing you around (in a sense).
