What do you like to bake for your Christmas treat trays? Do you take shortcuts and just buy cookies, etc. or do bake up a storm? I'm usually on a week of baking everything from shortbread, sugar cookies, butter tarts squares, fudge and the list goes on.It's not all just for family my hubby takes goodie trays to work for coffee breaks.

I love the holidays and getting to make all the great things to give to people, we make pumpkin rolls, for family and friends, and shrimp molds, cookies and brownies. Don't like store bought, we make sweet potato pie, we are living in the north right now and some of the people here dont' get the deserts that we have down south, so it always is a treat to see their faces when you bring them a basket of goodies

This is the first year that I will be baking alot of cookies for Christmas gifts. My daughter is in dancing and I wanted to give her class something little and I thought little gift bags with cookies would be a great idea. I am taking a short cut with that and making it from the sugar cookie packet but I would love to do other cookies as well. I am trying this recipe this week on some soft sugar cookies no short cuts with this one but I can't wait to try them and probably will use that recipe for the Christmas boxes that I will be making. I will start baking not this weekend but the next.

I bake my own treats. I bake sugar cookies, russian tea cake cookies, peanut butter cookies with the hershey kiss on top and gingerbread cookies. I make chocolate and peanut butter fudge. I make payday candy and chow mien noodle candy. I dunk pretzels in chocolate and roll in sprinkles. I also bake cranberry and pumpkin bread. My husband and I both give the goodie trays to friends and co-workers.

My stepmom usually does all the baking, and she goes crazy. She makes everything from scratch and it drives everyone insane because she puts so much tie and effort into it that she's not herself by the end. Her baking is really good though. Gotta love home baked treats.
