Well, I still have a #1 rated story in its category over at Helium.com. That is a great feeling! What I am interested is if anyone out there has an opinion (and I know you do) about which site is better for getting paid for your content - Helium.com or AssociatedPress.com. Who has experience contrasting the two, and what can you tell me?
Cheers!

I haven't been active on either long enough to know, but wondered the same thing!! I feet less intimidated to write on Helium but not sure if it will ever pay off. I am really glad you asked this question and look forward to more responses. By the way, what is your story on Helium? I think I am confused on how they work with finding stories and then all the ratings with "compare this to that"...

Hey Travis, congratulation on the #1 rated story. I enjoy writing at Helium.com. It is definitely easy. I cannot yet compare the two as my time is limited, so I have not yet started writing at Associated Content. I do enjoy writing here and responding to people's discussions.
What I feel really great about is a site called Lulu.com. You might have been there already, but you might want to check it out if you enjoy writing. I have become self-published through Lulu.com and looking forward to getting my ISBN Number in January, 2008.

Have a great holiday.

Helium is really easy to write for. You can find titles on topics you know and love. You don't have to think what to write and how to write it, it is already provided for. Earning money there is slow, but as you build up an article base your passive income increases more and more.
Associated Content pays you up front for some articles, but they are getting increasingly picky. Their performance money is decent, though I have heard that Helium's is better. If you can come up with original topics then you can get both an upfront payment and performance pay, which means that this makes you money now and later.
I like them both, right now I don't have a favorite!
