My daughter's engaged!!

I just wanted to take a moment to share some exciting news! My daughter just got engaged to a wonderful man.
They've been together for almost 3 years. They were on their way to visit a friend and she had told me she would call when they got there. She called me later, she was choked up and said, "we aren't there but I have something to tell you"...my first thought was they had an accident or broke down...nope, she said, "Doug asked him to marry me"...she was so excited, she said it backwards, so it took me a second to figure out what she had just told me. I was (and still am) very happy and excited.

Thank you and congratulations to you also! I'm hoping she doesn't stress too much either, she has a lot of people ready to pitch in and help, so I hope that will take some stress off of her, but as I'm sure you know, the bride is always stressed about her own wedding, even if it's just a bit. Thanks again and I hope you have a very happy marriage.

*Awe* That's awesome! I'm so happy for your daughter and the wonderful things that are yet to come for her. That's such an exciting time for a couple, have they set a date yet? I've been with my boyfriend for almost 5 years and we're just waiting for the money. I plan on only getting married once and it definitely won't be a court house wedding! :-) Good luck, hun and I hope you get to help with the planning AND keep us updated!

Thank You, I couldn't wait to share the news with everyone! I'll try to keep everyone posted, this will be a busy time for us as the wedding date is tentatively set as October 17, 2008! She has a lot of people ready to pitch in and help, so I hope that will take some stress off of her. Money is tight, so it will definately be on a budget. I'll try to keep you posted on how much things cost, or rather how much of a discount we can get on things, to help you out with ideas. I do know we'll be doing most of the decorating ourselves, that will definately help. We did that for my sisters wedding and it was beautiful. Good luck with you plans, don't worry, even if it's a small wedding, it's the marriage that really counts any way! Thanks again kangel.

Congratulations to your daughter. She lucky to have family like you who actually cares that she's getting married. I've been engaged for over a year and never got 1 congratulations and no one really seems to care.

Congratulations! And your family is going to be and have fantastic in-laws too. It is so cool when good things to happen to good people and they welcome the new husbands and wives of their children into their family like gaining a son or daughter. Unfortunately, more people have too many bad inlaw stories to mention but I think you will all be fine :)

Thank you, yes we will have great in-laws! So will they for that matter (hee hee). He will definitely be a welcome member of the family, he's a great guy and he's so good to our daughter, and she already been welcomed in their family as she has been living with his family (2 hours away from me) for the past two years, it's sad. =( But she's happy, so we're happy for her. She lived with them while she was finishing college, and of course didn't want to leave him after graduation, so she didn't. Thanks again.

Congradulations. It's not often that you actually find someone who likes their son/daughter-in-laws. I know I never got on with my ex mother-in-law. But then she wasn't a very nice person.
It's so exciting when someone tells you they are engaged. I wish them and you all the best.

Thank you, we couldn't be happier, he's a great guy and he's so good to our daughter. We even like our in-laws, as does my daughter, and they love her too. That's already a great start to a good marriage, I think. Thanks again.

Congrats great mum, being a mum myself, I can imagine how elated you must be feeling. It looks like they are taking this decision after understanding each other well.
