When you were a little kid - What did you want to be when you grew up?

When you were 5 years old, what did you want to be when you grew up? And how does it compare to what you are doing today (or what you are studying to do). There have been different studies that seem to say when it comes down to it, oftentimes we end up doing something that relates to what we had in our heart when we were five. When I was five, I was torn between being an artist, a paleontologist, and working with animals. I have been an artist, I do volunteer with animal rescue, but the paleontology has eluded me career-wise.

when i was younger i wanted to be a veterinarian. i loved, and still do love, animals. i wanted to help them and make them all better! then i grew up more and realized that it wouldn't at all be easy. i'm not just talking about all the years of schooling and everything you need. i'm talking about the times when an animal would be too sick to be helped and you'd have to tell its owners and then put the animal down. that's something i could never do.

Oh yeah - we don't know about those things yet when we were little (that sometimes you can't make people or animals better).

I wanted to be a singer. I was a kid of the 80's, so star search and shows like kids incorporated really fueled that for me. i vividly remember using a hairbrush as a microphone. I went on in life joining choirs & bands and have recorded some music...but with the way the music industry works, its not even something i want to do to make a living from...just to play around once inawhile. I wanted to be a writer since I was 10 years old...still working on that one!! it's kind of funny how everything gets in the way, eh?

Glad to see you still followed your interests and dreams. It doesn't mean our aspirations will make us famous all the time - but they can bring us a lot of joy and personal satisfaction. Hee hee - remember "putting on the hits" in the 80s where they lip synced for fame? That's what I would have to do - I am terrified of actually singing for real in front of folks.

When I was five, I wanted to be an artist and I wanted to write story books. Currently, I'm a mixed media artist and an author. So, this study holds true for me.

It is funny (interesting funny) that a lot of people really don't seem to change their main passions in life compared to when they were five :)

When I was a kid, I always wanted to be a taxi driver. It was time and country, when very few of the people could afford to by a car. So, becoming a taxi driver was the only chance to drive. I became and engineer, lately a middle manager, but I still love driving... Dreams come true!

When I was 5 years old, I told my Father that I would live on a sailboat and sail away as far as I could. I did. I lived on a trawler first and then a sailboat. I got my captain's liscense and sailed and motored the carribean for years. I also sailed in the Med. when I was stationed there in the Navy. As far as what I wanted to be, I had to work at any job that would allow me to sail! Who cared what it was as long as I was sailing!

I'm not sure what age that was but I remember wanting to become a lawyer then eventually president of my country. As I grew up I realized it's not that easy to become a lawyer, and that politics here is very dirty. Now I just want to be financially successful, regardless of what career path I take. I have come to realize that there are many ways to help my country and its people, and that I don't have to be president to do that.

When I was young, I wanted to be a policeman...partly influenced by Police Academy and TJ Hooker and even Miami Vice... But as years passed, that thought faded away and I didn't realise that dream

A few people I know mentioned a negative teacher obstructing their path by taking the joy out of the subject for them. My cousin designs and he majored in product design at art school. It can be done! Don't give up. But you may have to alter what that means - does it mean doing the drawings for concept cars that people later make or does it mean more hands on that you think up a better car design and then make custom cars with your own hands and then do specialty car shows. Or designing toy cars - there are so many possibilities

When I were a little kid I didn't never want to grow up I liked being a kid! I would never compare what I was doing as 5 yr old with what I'm doing to day. Its like comparing apples and orangtes. Most Kids at 15 do not yet know, what they want to do when grown up! Five years old is not old enough to even think about be grown up. Give the Kid a chance!
