Where do you prefer to do the laundry? Do you prefer to use your own washer and dryer at home or to go to the laundry mat? I usually only get a chance to do the laundry once a week. Therefore I prefer to go to the laundry mat because there I can wash and dry every load I have at the same time where as at home, using only one washer and dryer, I would have to do each load separately which would consume a lot more time. Some people tell me that it would be cheaper if I did it at home, but I am not sure about that. True, I have to pay to use the washers and dryers at the laundry mat, but you also have to pay your water and gas bill at home, which using the washer and dryer at home causes these bills to go up. Anyway, what about the rest of you? Which is your preference? Do laundry at home?, or, Do laundry at the laundry mat?

I prefer to do my laundry at home. I'd never get much done if I had to load it all up and go sit somewhere and wait on my laundry. Working fulltime doesn't leave much time for these kind of errands. I can put laundry on to wash and go put dinner on or watch tv, or other cleaning...or fold the load that just came out of the dryer and put them away.

Wow! I wasn't expecting so many replies to this question. I merely posed it out of a moment of boredom, lol. Any way, Thank you everyone for your replies. I see that most of your prefer to do your laundry at home. I understand all of your points and see why many of you prefer to do it at home. I still prefer the laundry mat though. I like to be able to do all my loads of laundry at the same time and get it done. I do not sit at the laundry mat. I put the laundry in the washers and start them. Then I leave the laundry mat and go do my weekly errands that require me to leave the house. Then I return to the laundry mat and put the laundry in the dryers and start them. I then leave the laundry mat again and finish my remaining errands. After that I return to the laundry mat, take the clothes from the dryer, I do not fold them right away, I just put them in the baskets and take them to my car. Then I go home, fold the stuff and put it away.

I always do my washing at home and never use a laundry.
I have an automatic front loader washing machine and a dryer but I only use the dryer very occasionally as I always try to dry my clothes etc outside on the line.
Weather permitting

I do my laundry at home. That is the only way I can find the time to get anything done at all. I wish I were more organized so I could have more time with my kids and less time cleaning. My Hubby says I could spend less time at the computer but this is my sanity time.

I would much prefer to do the laundry at home - tha tway I can take care of other things while it is washing... though there is an advantage at the mat because you can do several loads at once... but to haul the laundry in and out of the car - to try and sort it there.... it just seems such a hassle. plus the expense, and inevitably if I bring bleach it will leak out and onto things.

If the clothes are piled up , I prefer to take it in laundrymat. It saves me time and energy and I can do other things. But for new clothings , I prefer to wash them myself, In my place there are lots of cheap laundrymats that offer great service. What I like about it also is that I don;t have to fold the clothes. I just picked up the clothes nicely folded and some of them need not to be ironed.

I only get a chance to do laundry once a week too. I would love to go to the laundry mat but my husband says its a waste of money. Thats the one thing we don't agree one. He is generally a resonable person but he doesn't get the laundry mat concept. Get every thing done at once, less time etc. I think as for the money it evens out between spending for the mat verses the bills going up. Anyway to answer your question I do laundry at home. BTW my husband does his own laundry!

I do not enjoy being stuck at a laundromat. They bore me to tears. I can get much more accomplished at home. Toss in a load, go do something, put it in the dryer, toss in another load, go do something else - fold the dry load, dry the wet one...
It seems to go faster, and it does cost less for me to do my laundry at home. No gas wasted to go to and from, no carrying heavy baskets all over the place, no freaks staring at you hitting you up for dates..
I much prefer the home experience!
Peace,
Lynda

I always hated having to go to the laundry mat, I do mine at home, once a week, usually Friday evening, that way I don't have to worry about it over the weekend. And as I'm doing the laundry I can do the rest of the house cleaning, and/or work on my scrapbooking. So while I'm getting other things done I'm also getting all the laundry done.

I really don't like doing laundry at the laundry mat. I have so many clothes I find t difficult.
I also like that I can do laundry at any time of the day at home. I can put a load on before I go to bed and then take it out in the morning.

I much prefer at home. I used to live in an apartment where I didn't have a washer and dryer, and I dreaded going to the laundromat so much that sometimes I washed my clothes by hand and hung them to dry.
At home, while I can only do one load at a time, I can do other things while they are washing and drying. I put a load in the wash, then go cook dinner while it washes, put it in the dryer while we eat, then sit and fold it while I watch a little TV in the evening. One or two loads every day or two and I stay caught up. It sure beats putting it all in the car, driving to the laundromat, waiting for it to wash, waiting for it to dry, then loading it all back in the car.
Plus, you never know who's been using those machines or how clean they are. It just feels cleaner when I do it at home.

when doing laundry i definitely prefer doing it at home. sometimes there's so much to do that you'd be stuck at the laundromat for ever with nothing to do. plus it's a lot cheaper to just do it at home. those machines at the laundromat are so pricey!!

Definitely at home. Then I don't have to drag everything to the laundry and do the washing and drying in front of other people. On the other hand, occasionally we've had interesting conversations with other people in laundries. And while we were travelling on the Continent recently we had no choice but to go to the laundry.
