have you ever inserted in a line WITHOUT knowing it?

last night, after watching a movie, me and my friend decided to take a jeepney instead of a cab going home. we went to the spot where different jeepneys, each of them with different routes, and we fell in line and waited for our jeepney. I was thankful because there were only 2 persons in front of us, or so I thought, and the other line for the jeepney with a different route was longer, or so I thought. after a few minutes, it was my friend who realized that we ACCIDENTALLY inserted in the line. I looked back and I saw the students, who I saw earlier in the other line talking with some girls, they were behind us and a lot more people who I thought were in the other line! I concluded that only the girls were in the other line and the students were actually, supposed to be in our spot. we started arguing if we should go at the back of the line and I look back and I saw that the line grew longer and I said to my friend, it was an honest mistake, we didn't intend to insert and that we should stay in our spot since nobody at the back told us or even reacted that we were committing a "blasphemy". LOL and its kinda stupid and too late to go at the back. ^__^;; he was very troubled about it though so I asked him if he wanted to pretend that we forgot something inside the mall so as to leave the line innocently and pretend up to the end that we didn't know we inserted. LOL in the end we took a cab and we left the line for his conscience' happiness. ^__^;; I still say, we never meant to insert and its not our fault, its the students fault ^__^;; for leaving the line, and we should have stayed in our spot. LOL so have any of you ever accidentally inserted in a line? ^__^

hehe.. accidentally inserting into a line is actually quite normal..As long as ple din see and the queue is short, and the transport comes fast enough, nobody will really bother u ^_^ but some will purposely wanna make u embarassed by shouting and cursing at u while kind hearted person will just tell u that u are at the wrong end of queue.. LOL.. For me, i have experience both situations too and it was like quite awkward too.. hehe

hmmm.. I think the line was still short when we unknowingly inserted. but the transport takes a long time before arriving. I didn't hear anybody shouting or cursing at us so I thought it was okay. only my companion was so troubled by it that we decided to leave. ^__^;; one thing I'm sure is they were thankful that the line was lessened by 2. LOL

Yes, because I always come at a later time in places so usually when I arrive for example in ATMs there are already many who are ahead of me. Problem is most of them don't stay in lines, maybe they got tired of standing. So what happens is I fall in line after one or two persons. When I do that they all return to the line and that's when I realize that all those people sitting in different places near the ATM were all ahead of me. It happened many times to me already. No problem with me, I just move to the end of the line. Transaction's usually fast anyway so I get to the machine in minutes. It's just a little embarassing at first though.

yes! the lines at ATM machines are always long. good thing I don't have to always go to the ATM to get my money, or salary. I know what you mean. people get tired of standing and look for places to sit down. and they just get back to the line if their turn is nearing. some people are polite enough to say that its their spot and some people are just rude thinking that a person intended to take their spot.

Well, yes I have experienced inserting in the line innocently. It happened I guess 3 years ago during my college days. I was about to pay my tuition fee... the girl I was following I though was in line... but she was just a companion of her friend who was the one falling in line. Nobody noticed me... It was too late when I realize taht I inserted in line. I already paid my tuition. I realize how long the line is.

If it is really an honest mistake, I guess, you need not to worry at all. But since your conscience did not permit, it's okay, as well. Before i fall in line anywhere, I ask the person in front of me for what it is and where is the end. I am also shy and afraid to be in trouble, so I check it first to be really, really sure.

we would have asked too but since those students were on the other line, we assumed there weren't anyone else in the line. ^__^;;

Yes, several times in the rush of crowds I have ended up where I shouldn't have, but only temporarily, as like your friend, I would just turn and apologize to the ones behind me and leave, because many times people have tried to cut in front of me and I didn't like it. In fact, rest assured that I told them to take a hike. Well, in the case of the students who were not watching, yes that may have been their fault, but not the fault of all the people behind them. It is nice to know you have an honest friend and that you, too, were honorable enough to go along with his choice. If it is a supermarket line and I have a lot of items and someone behind me has one carton of ice cream, I would always let them go ahead of me, but that is different because it is just a one on one switch and not unfair to the rest of the line.

It's an honest mistake and I find nothing wrong about it. The spot is for you. That's luck I should say.

Hello secretbear, Well, if you and your friends did that purposely...definitely it was not accepted at all. I hate people breaking the line though... I never do that *smiles* as far as I can remember! By the way, you and your friends did that without realizing it. That can be forgiven *laughs* Maybe the best you can do is just to say sorry for those queueing behind you!

hi gr8life! ^__^ it was kind of late to say sorry because the line got too long for us to go at the back. ^__^;; and we didn't want to stand for such a long time. :p but since my friend was so troubled at it, we decided to take a cab instead. geez... he paid the fare though. so I didn't complain. LOL

I have been in both situations and I know how it feels, but my friend was the first one to encourage me to go ahead and do it. Be happy that you have such a friend, you should be very proud. The other time i feel bad when people inserts themselves ahead of me. Expectant mothers like this trend alot.

well, i just did this morning.lol. i was going to the bank to encash a check and i saw two of my officemates in line at the banks ATM machine. i proceeded inside and place my check in counter and since there were a lot of people inside the bank i thought it would still take long before my turn will be called. i decided to go out and chat with my friends. we were talking for about 3 minutes already that i decided to withdraw also at the ATM. looking at the many people in line behind my friends i whispered if they can just withdraw for me because i still need to go back to the office and they're just two people away from the ATM . one said, 'why not, just give me your PIN'. and just at the same time the bank's guard called my name that it's already my turn to get the check i encashed. there... i didn't wait that long. should i be guilty of what i did? as you've said, it too is an honest mistake..huh!

LOL yeah, I don't think there's nothing wrong with it. you didn't actually inserted, you just asked your friends to withdraw for you and they agreed and nobody can't do anything about it. its your friends decision to let you "in" the line, its their call already. but if they allowed more than a few friends to insert, now that would be unfair. ^__^
