This a wonderful tale of love, thoughtfulness, humanity. I have goose flesh now. Thanks for sharing. I am going to forward it to all my friends. Many a times the children teach lessons that we adults fail to understand! smiles..

I thought it was beautiful too. You don't hear of it happening much in this world, but when you do, it really is special. You share it with all your friends.

we can always be the starting point of such acts... then perhaps just "pay it forward" :-)

Sometimes we don't even realise when we have touched someone, which is sad, because our kind acts, no matter how small, should really be celebrated.

it just made me smile with tears.... it made me reflect of my own initial reactions to things in life w/out even thinking what difference my actions can make in somebody's life :-)

It is amazing just how a small gesture can make the world of difference to one person. I wish there were more acts like this happening every day.

That is truly touching. Shay was blessed he was surrounded with loving and caring people. I pity a lot of handicapped persons who are not as lucky, I wish that people around them would treat them like the way Shay was treated.

yes, I wish there were more otherly abled people who were treated better. They have so much to offer if we only paid more attention to them.

This is definitely one of the most beautiful things that I have ever read. If more people were like those children at the game were, this world would be a much better place.

Yes, it is sad that there are not more people willing to 'throw' a game just for the sake of making someone a little different feel like a hero! My girls will be taught that selflessness and giving someone else time in the spotlight are more important than sticking to the popular or those who are pretty much the same.

A wonderful story!! Very touching.. As my children were growing up they befriended a handicap child that they defended when others picked on her. She really appreciated my children being friends with her. She was so proud of them. I think it helped them to see that not everyone is the same. They all became very close over the years until she moved away. Happy posting..

People who are differently abled often can provide a lot to others, if the others are willing to take a chance. I feel we live in a society where we are expected to be sheep and stick to those in our own flocks. Reading this story made me realise, there is still some kindness in this world.

That was a great story. Thank you for sharing. I honestly believe that kids are better than adults, sometimes, in their understanding of others. This story is a prime example of just how wonderful children can be to each other.

I've noticed that my daughter seems to gravitate towards people that are different for one reason or another to choose as friends. I like to think that is a good thing, for it shows she has a big heart. She has already gotten picked on for hanging out with the kids that are different, but it doesn't change her. I think that is great and I must be doing something right as a mom. On the other hand... what do 6 year olds know about who is different and who is not? That is frustrating to me.

Then you are doing a great job! I hope that my girls have this sort of kindness too, they should, because it is something I will teach them!
