this is probably a cliche.. but we should read the DETAILS of a discussion.

i am saying this because one of my discussions elicited different answers, different from the main idea. and i can't help but be confused if i wasn't clear on the details of it and if my English is failing me. ^__^;;
have you posted a discussion and get answers that are different from what you have written? how did you feel?

Atleast you should be glad that someone took his or her time to reply to your discussion.
Correct the person if he or she did not understand your discussion or just assume it, atleast it is counted in the number of responses or traffick your discussion has.
For me I really appreciate when someone responds even if he was saying hallo.

Not mistaking you at all. I just thought you might have seen SecretBear's other discussion that she did just before this one. She expressed her affection for bunny rabbits and butterflies and since you started a discussion on butterflies, I thought you might have enjoyed her other discussion. It was pretty interesting!

Hey Drannhh,
Are you mistaking me with someone else in here?
I went back to the original discussion and i found it new to me. I havent responded to any of the discussion concerning CARNATION.
This is the first response i did and if i have offended a soul here then am sorry.
I was just dropping my two cents.
I am going to watch out whose discussion i respond to from now henceforth.

Yeah, lighten up, OK? LOL! I'm pretty glad if I get any answers at all when I try to start a discussion. This is great because you got to turn one discussion into three, apparently without breaking any rules. I think that it is hard for many people to take the work incarnate out of the religions sense and that may be part of the confusion. But I did start out my reply to you by admitting I was confused.

I'm so glad! I didn't want to hurt your feelings. Talk about doomed English I see the typos where I was supposed to have said "to take the WORD incarnate out of the RELIGIOUS sense..." Maybe I need new glasses, lol. But did you enjoy that movie? I want to know if I should see it or not~!?

Ranting is okay... but two or three consecutive discussions on the same rant topic and at in quick succession...? Just one to vent should be enough.
Not only that.. I say its a picky rant. People who answered "wrong" still were VERY close to the topic and chose forms to become. Why does that merit a rant discussion... better than that question...why Three?

I had been here on mylot, since I think an year and have been posting discussions here on mylot, not too many but still some of them, get responses totaly off the main question, responses are pretty much based on just the heading line.
At first I was pretty much amused that some people are so into replying to the discussions that they don't even read the body carefully and just throw in there responses. but with time I started feeling quite irritated by these responses. I even used to reply to these responders but then they hardly checked back.
At that time there were many discussions started to make the users aware of what they write and then there are always new users here so who's gonna remind them.
Any ways
Take Care
May GOD Bless YOU

Yeah.. it really gets to a point that it is irritating. I usually shrugs it off after being annoyed for a few seconds and just let it pass. this one I guess, had a different effect. it stayed on me for a longer period. ^__^;;
I'm glad you think that it iss our responsibility as old members to remind the new members, and this discussion is one of those reminders. ^__^ thanks.

I have read many things that the person is not clear and I'd have to say that I don't think you were completely clear in your golden compass related discussion. After I re-read it I still stuck with my original answer because I personally feel that it still answers your question. So maybe as some may have to re-read your discussions you should also re-read answers to the discussions because they may make more sense than you originally thought.
People always give me advice in my discussions. I never ask for advice nor do my posts warrant advice, in my opinion. So that always kind of ticks me off. But people read things how they read it...oh well.

yeah raychill.. I realized I wasn't 100% clear with it. should have written there having a daemon (soul-incarnate) while a person is still alive. but I did mention having my own daemon hopping around me and going wherever I go. *sigh* anyway, I will keep in mind that people have different comprehension, just like what you said. they read it the way they do and I read it the way I do. I thought I am always cool with it, I guess not. ^__^;; i'll remember to be cool with anything from now on. ^__^
thanks raychill. ^__^

I guess maybe because of the language barrier from person to person this is why this happens in here? Or there are people that do not really read the Discussion, and just maybe the Title here and then jump to conclusions, and add in their thoughts from there.
You are not the only one that this has happened too, and will not be the last. It has happened for me from time to time as well. All I do is read it, and usually go on, and if it is way off kilter, I just refuse to respond to it, and remember in the future they are not one I want to respond too. That I feel is all that I can do.

It does happen to me too. It is not you . Your English is good. It is that English is one of the hardest languages.I posted a discussions where I wanted to know who was your favorite gangster in film and everyone thought I asked what was your favorite gangster film.English is a tricky language and even "fluent" people like me are Still learning it.

I'm sure it happens to everyone else too. Even after reading details, they still made a mistake, because they read too fast or something. But you can tell the difference, those whose mother language is not English and those who actually responded without reading details. The first group I just ignored it, since English is not my mother language too anyway. The second, it depends on the response makes sense or not. If it makes sense I don't mind repeating my details, otherwise I will either ignore or mark negative.

Yes, sometimes that happens on my site...but it doesn't really bother me too much. In my view it is always a pleasure to have members take the time to drop by and add their comments to any discussion I post. Mine are often on the lengthy side and I am sensitive to the fact that some have the language barrier to deal with.
So whatever anyone cares to offer is fine by me...as long as it is respectful all comments are welcome whether they jive with the topic or not.
Best regards,
Raia

Bear you're english is superb!! It's the reader that is failing here. They only read the topic at hand, and nothing about it's content. That really drives me batty when people do that, those are the ones that are just out for a freakin penny for answering the discussion they really don't care what you have to say. I'm sorry that some did this to you, make note of who they are and just let them answer and don't deal with them.

I read all of the discussions I respond to, over and over again to make sure i've gotten the point they were trying to make so I could properly field their question. My guess is that the more likely assumption would be that people aren't actually reading the "details" of the discussion. But! It could also be that you just didn't give off a clear enough idea of what your discussion was about to begin with.

yeah, I think I wasn't 100% clear with the details. I just thought that they'd look up the Golden Compass movie first before they would write a response. but then, that was a stupid thing to assume since it would take extra efforts and time and everyone here don't have that. ^__^;;

It's very rare that I do get weird and wonderful responses, but seeing as this site is worldwide so different people from different parts of the world will easily misconstrew what is being asked and being sad, and may reply in a totally different way as they have comprehended it differently and I can understand that, it's when the person has blatantly answered it without a care or thought and it's so clear they haven't read what you are talking about, although most of the time it is liable to make me laugh more than get cross, I just ignore those, if they want to make 1c so badly that they write mumbo jumbo then fair enough!

You are absolutely correct. So many people seem
to read only the title and maybe a sentence or
two. Your descriptions for your discussions are
always clear.
Anyway. What was this discussion about? Just
kidding.
On another note. I read you already saw The Golden
Compass. I've been waiting for a long time to see it.
It just opened here Friday and I'll be going soon.
I hope it's as good a fantasy movie as it sounds.
Have you been to the website to meet your Daemon?

It happens to me a lot. Also it could be that the person is afraid of giving you the right answer because the subject hurts too much or she feels that you might not like the answer. I find I give roundabout answers because I want to be tactful. If there were not those who report and give negatives I would not have this problem. I feel that it is a fear tactic.

Well, that happened to me maybe once or twice... i posted a discussion and got a totally out of this word response... and i didn't know what comment to write... i don't know if that person did not understand my discussion because of the language thingy, or if it was done on purpose, or if he responded just to get points...
I just shrugged my shoulders and move on to the next response...

yes, maybe one or two of my discussions received an answer that is very far from what i want to convey. but reading from the response, i guess the one responding was the one who didn't really understand what i mean. i can say this because just reading his/her response, i am sure english is not his/her first language. well, i just don't mind the response. instead i still appreciate the person for making an effort to respond.
